So, I'm curious. I'm from the 31st century, so I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of music. What are some good songs and bands? I love Cuts You Up by Peter Murphy and Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division personally, but I'm willing to listen to just about anything. Except for music for the Terran father god. Yuck. Thanks! ❤

Fresh. Which I allowed on multiple occasions. She was my friend, if I could help, I wanted to. The batcats here, they drink fresh blood, too, but since they're so small, they don't need all that much.

Where I was before here, it was far from a curse. More like a kink? Maybe. But despite what I mentioned, its drawbacks more than outnumber its charms.

The way you said that makes it sound like their bites didn't leave the bitten under a curse, only if they're turned. Do I have that right?

Even the turned didn't seem cursed? I know at least a couple of people who were turned while in the other place and they seemed fine.

It takes time for the endless longing for the sun while being unable to stand in it, and the thirst not just for blood but for fear and despair to take its toll.

So they hadn't been vampires long enough for the bad sides to really sink in? They were mostly thrilled about the potential immortality thing and the fact that a lot of people seem hot for vampires? That makes sense.

To any species with a strong will to survive, immortality has its appeal.

It's easy to envy the idea of existing without end.

That would certainly describe humans. Immortality, eternal youth, a guaranteed way of self-defense. It would be tantalizing. What's it like after the second or third century? I actually need this, I come from a long-lived people.

It's different if you live among people with the same life span. And if you eventually face a natural death.

I may not be the best person to ask about living a long life if you're looking for advice, or a glimpse into what you'll face.

I have a teammate with a similar life span, but we've never been close. I can hope to have my husband with me for around one hundred years. After that, I'm alone for another two or three hundred years. I don't know if I've passed my long life span to my son or not.

I've no advice to offer you, then. I think you'll be able to track the faster rhythm of human lives without much trouble and remain closer to them than a vampire could.

You can always continue to be friends with humans, if you can learn to accept the inevitable.

You don't have much of a choice in what happens. You do have a choice in how you live with it.

I know. I want to spend as much time with him as I possibly can.

I'm surprised you're not mentioning something like cybernetic conversion or other methods of extending a human lifespan.

Such things are largely prohibited in my time, to the point where an invasion of robotic beings was nearly more than the galaxy could take. No one would willingly convert themselves like that.

It sounds like people in your dimension view cyborgs and robots the way vampires and dhampirs are viewed in my dimension.

I suppose so? There had been experiments with artificial intelligences, but most to the experiments blew up in their designer's face. Sometimes literally.

A literal explosion's not that bad compared to the other options.

Yeah, but then Brainy has to wait around for his and his boyfriend's lab to be rebuilt, at least if he has his lab Brainy can be anti-social with his boyfriend instead of anti-social and taking it out on everyone else. 😅
