[It's been a few days since dying, and Luz had unfortunately kept this to herself. If you haven't been able to tell, this girl has been having a pretty rough month, and it didn't seem to be getting better. She lurched her device to focus, and, though coughing, was looking directly into the camera].
So. Uh. Died. First time, ha ha, not a fun experience. Kinda looking for some company, here or just on this thing otherwise. I should probably be getting rest, yes, but staring up at the ceiling regretting stuff and hating yourself can only keep out the quiet for so long.
Also, been out of the loop a bit. Someone update me on things?
[Action]

Luz was pretty sure that she was going to get an earful from people in the house, but ESPECIALLY from Ahiru, who had very much not wanted her to go on the mission. Luz had thought she could handle it and had handled somewhat similar situations before. Now, though, since they'd talked about it before, Luz knew it looked even WORSE.
Add the whole mix of self-loathing for being too weak to avoid death and the ever-present gloom of missing Fern and Varian, and Luz was pretty much a powder keg of emotions and blah. She was in her room right now, dimly lit with her purple lights and surrounded by a fort of stuffed animals and, well, Luz was a sight to see.

[Again, Luz would have thought it was her responsibility too. She understood, at least, where Leon was coming from].
I did my best. But I want to do better than that, if something like this ever happens again.
[And it would. This was Trench. You couldn't always be safe.
When she got the alert, she slowly walked to the second flight of stairs and looked out the window].
I don't see you, Leon. Did you make sure to come to Cassandra to the house with all the crazy stuff outside it?
no subject
[Wesker among them, but Leon won't mention that to this kid. She seems to care about him, and he won't hurt her that way.]
I'm not sure what I can help you with, there. But if there's anything you think I can teach you...
I knew I was missing something. Hold on.
[It takes him five more minutes, but eventually he does show up, Barbra the Oshawott cradled in his arms, a paper bag hanging off his elbow. He waves hello to the window, then walks up to the door and knocks.]
no subject
[She could probably guess that about Wesker, but she wasn't one to pry too much into the backstory of her paternal father figures. She had precious few, yet knew well enough that they had their hands dirtied in certain instances].
Teach me? In what way?
[Luz was very aware she had a match coming up soon, and was not about to go in blind].
Oh, there you are!
[Luz walked downstairs and opened the door].
Leon. Hi and...aww, look at yoU!
[Luz regressed to cute mode now].

Hand-to-hand, or shooting a gun, whichever.
[He shoves his Omni into his pocket, then adjusts his grip on Barbra, who kicks her feet somewhat as the door opens and makes an excited noise, reaching her stubby little arms out towards Luz.]
Hey, Luz. I brought lavender tea and Barbra. [Oshashawott!!] Yeah, she was pretty excited to take a walk outside.
no subject
[Clearly Leon could see why Luz hadn't wanted the Tyrant walking around, killing innocent people].
Hand to hand sounds great! I need all the help I can get!
[Luz was obviously in love with Barbara already, and gave the little creature a hug].
Thanks for the tea, and Barbara's time!

[Because Leon's place is pretty boring, and Leon's not exactly the best of company after a mission goes wrong. Barbra is absolutely delighted to see another face, and once Leon sets her down, she hops into Luz's arms for that hug, preening all the while.]
Careful when you hold her, all right? You've seen how sharp that shell of hers is.
[Barbra turns in Luz's arms to stick her tongue out at Leon, then returns to cuddling Luz.]
I can do hand-to-hand, sure. Not right now, you're going to need to be at your best, but once this passes—I can show you the basics, plus a few tricks.

[A touch of rustic, a little bit of steampunk, aquatic themes and, of course, Luz's appreciation of the surreal. They had a very interesting little house].
Of course! Besides, it's not that bad!
[Actually it was plenty hard, but Luz was gleefully ignoring that, just happy to have a cuddly little gal like this for right now]!
As soon as you can! I have kind of a karate tournament in a few days. Need all the help I can get.

[Leon says it while looking up at the house in bemusement. His own place is fairly simple, a two-story townhouse with an attic in Prufrock, so he isn't entirely used to this clash of aesthetics.]
Mm. Sure. [He tucks his hands into the pockets of his leather jackets, clearly a little uncomfortable.] A few days? You sure you're up for that?
no subject
[Until they lost three of their party, of course, but Luz didn't want to depress him with all of that. He had enough of his own problems].
After being dead, you mean? You better believe it. I'm not exactly a girl who likes to stand still.
no subject
[Then again, she's not an alcoholic.]
I don't know. I'm not a guy who likes standing still either, but I—uh, got sick and almost died once, [which is a very thin summary of what happened in Spain,] and that took a lot out of me when I was getting better.
[Although that was probably more the post-mission crash.]
How long does something like this usually last, do you know? Haven't really died before, so I'm not much of an expert.
no subject
[So SO much work. It could be hard to even smile on days].
I'm actually fairing better. In the last town, if you died, when you came back you had this CRAZY flu where you were sick as a dog! I'm lucky I don't have that, I just feel achy and tired a bit!
Um. It's actually my first time too. A little mad about breaking my streak, but I held it longer than many. Probably a good thing, it'll remind me to have a way to protect myself the next time.
[She HAD to learn more defensive ways to use her glyphs].

[Reel in the sarcasm, Kennedy. She's just a kid and she's been through something traumatic. He sighs.]
I'm sorry. [For a lot of things.] We can start—when are you willing to start? We can try out some stances and basic strikes down, first.
no subject
[Something Luz had thankfully managed to avoid until now].
I don't blame you one bit, but thanks for saying it.
Whenever you're ready, Leon.
