[It's been a few days since dying, and Luz had unfortunately kept this to herself. If you haven't been able to tell, this girl has been having a pretty rough month, and it didn't seem to be getting better. She lurched her device to focus, and, though coughing, was looking directly into the camera].

So. Uh. Died. First time, ha ha, not a fun experience. Kinda looking for some company, here or just on this thing otherwise. I should probably be getting rest, yes, but staring up at the ceiling regretting stuff and hating yourself can only keep out the quiet for so long.

Also, been out of the loop a bit. Someone update me on things?

Luz was pretty sure that she was going to get an earful from people in the house, but ESPECIALLY from Ahiru, who had very much not wanted her to go on the mission. Luz had thought she could handle it and had handled somewhat similar situations before. Now, though, since they'd talked about it before, Luz knew it looked even WORSE.

Add the whole mix of self-loathing for being too weak to avoid death and the ever-present gloom of missing Fern and Varian, and Luz was pretty much a powder keg of emotions and blah. She was in her room right now, dimly lit with her purple lights and surrounded by a fort of stuffed animals and, well, Luz was a sight to see.

[There is no poise or stuffy manners in Oz's outburst. Nor is there much immediate volume control. He hasn't finished processing what she said either, so she'll get an unfiltered look at his grieving process. Shock turns to anger-- He wants to know who to chase down,-- then to sorrow and hurt when he realizes his friend died and he never even knew she was in danger.

Only for the anger to rise again.]

Where are you? How can you act so casually, Luz, you- You! You, you..!

[He can't say 'idiot.' Not when the end of these emotions is relief that she's not permanently dead.]

People used to die a LOT in Deerington. I was lucky it never happened there, and up until now, it never happened HERE either. That monster was just too fast.

[He's aware the death flu isn't really a thing here, but food seems to be one of the primary ways to comfort a human who's having a bad time. And yes, his tone about the whole death thing is probably inappropriately casual!]

[She was sure that had nothing to do with being dead, only that she simply felt more fatigued now that she came back. Definitely not trying to think about the whole "dying-and reverting-back-into-a-squid" part].

[Right, so she was worried. Yeah, death was a bit of a regular thing in her existence, but it still wasn't something that she wanted for her friends, however temporary.]

I can bring some mushroom broth we can add fish to. That will help with you recovering strength. There's nothing too terrible to worry about at present, other than be wary of bugs, and if you see growths of plants on yourself or others, those need to be dealt with. Oh... and people are turning into monsters but that is apparently not a big deal this month.

... [She sighed. There was also the whole "I just got engaged" part, but she was going to save that for when Luz was feeling better.]

Try not to beat yourself up too much. It never really gets easier with time. Some things are ... unavoidable in this place, Luz. Is it ok for me to come over?

[Not too long after Luz comes back (and probably sometime after she's gotten lectured by Ahiru), there's a knock on Luz's door.]

[Luz heard the voice from the doorway and recognized it pretty quickly].

[After watching the video, Maul immediately went over to the Disaster House. He knew he'd pretty much been banished when Varian and Fern were still here, but even as it gave him a pang of pain to know they were gone, he quickly pushed that back down and continued on his way. They were gone, back to the sea, so he supposed there was nothing stopping him from checking up on those still there.

Of course, Maul being Maul, he doesn't use the front door but instead walks along the roof and over to the nearest window. Luz will be hearing a soft Tap, Tap, Tap! on the glass. There's Maul, though how he's managing to just stay there clinging to the side of the house without falling is a mystery unto itself.]

[Luz did hear the tap, and considering it was at her window, she had a pretty good idea who it was. No one she knew off the top of her head could fly, so there was usually one person she thought of who would be scaling the house. She opened the window].

[Luz did hear a flop on the roof and hurried over to the roof. It was far too light for it to be Darth Maul, so she figured it had to be a smaller animal. She opened the window, and there flopped Wesker's omen].

Honestly, this month started out so badly, dying is actually the second worst thing. I'm surprised I managed this long! There were some really close calls!

[She sighed].

I sorta promised a friend I'd be OK, and I really did think I would be! But I misjudged something and got killed, so I broke my promise.

I don't like calling my loved ones distress. So, you know, self reflection, you get pretty mad at yourself for not being faster, not responding quick enough.

Wait, you don't know either?! How is this happening?

Ok, so. In the last town I was in, and this one, you can die, right? The last town had this thing with deer and someone who made this possible. Here, well, we all start as squids, right? So when you die, you revert back to your squid state again so you can recover, and then you come back to your physical body just like when you first got here.

How its possible? Don't know. There's still a lot of Pthumerian lore we need to figure out.
