[It's been a few days since dying, and Luz had unfortunately kept this to herself. If you haven't been able to tell, this girl has been having a pretty rough month, and it didn't seem to be getting better. She lurched her device to focus, and, though coughing, was looking directly into the camera].
So. Uh. Died. First time, ha ha, not a fun experience. Kinda looking for some company, here or just on this thing otherwise. I should probably be getting rest, yes, but staring up at the ceiling regretting stuff and hating yourself can only keep out the quiet for so long.
Also, been out of the loop a bit. Someone update me on things?
[Action]

Luz was pretty sure that she was going to get an earful from people in the house, but ESPECIALLY from Ahiru, who had very much not wanted her to go on the mission. Luz had thought she could handle it and had handled somewhat similar situations before. Now, though, since they'd talked about it before, Luz knew it looked even WORSE.
Add the whole mix of self-loathing for being too weak to avoid death and the ever-present gloom of missing Fern and Varian, and Luz was pretty much a powder keg of emotions and blah. She was in her room right now, dimly lit with her purple lights and surrounded by a fort of stuffed animals and, well, Luz was a sight to see.

[Between being a bird and riding a staff, Luz found both of these super advantageous]!
Haha, true! I suggested Tempest let me ride her, and she gave me a look that made me never think of doing that again. Besides, that's what the Fathiers are for!
[Luz didn't tremble slightly when she said that, you were just seeing things].

Why don't you eat now?
no subject
Good idea!
[She sat herself down and started to eat].
Oh. Wow. I am really hungry!
[She's having quite a bit now].
no subject
You need to eat several times a day, right? Have you been?
no subject
Sorry, I'm usually better at hosting!
[Clearly this was not happening today].
This is my first time eating today. Not been hungry.

[But the prospect of knives is too tempting, so Michael takes it and a piece of fruit and starts neatly carving it up into a rose shape.]
But I don't have to, so no big deal.

[Luz watched him cutting with rapt attention, soup in her lap, still eating].
Where did you learn to cut so well?
no subject
Oh, I don't think you want to hear about that.
no subject
[She already had three other older figures who did questionable things, not counting Varian and Fern].

[He pulls back, admiring his handiwork. He does like using knives still, if for obviously different purposes.]

Very nice!
[And now Luz was even done with the soup]!

[He leans forward to place the apple down on the table again and picks up another one.]
Check this out! [He tosses the apple lightly across the room, and then throws the knife after it, spearing it through.]

[Look, she wanted to be cheered up, and Michael definitely seemed to know just how to do it].
Ooh! That was awesome! I'm fencing, but what you did there was definitely a Fern move!

[Michael's combat experience only really started in Deerington; before that, he was too powerful in magic to bother with that sort of thing. When demons fight amongst themselves, it takes a rather different shape.]
But knife tricks, sure. Got a ton of those!
I write this as I realize I have leftover lasagna waiting for me...
[Any kind of slicing skill was starting to become an object of fascination with Luz. It was less about the inflicting harm and a little more on the art, on the fluidity of movement. She had to remind herself that Michael WAS a demon, he had told her so, and that meant he was likely stronger in his real form].
Thank you for the soup, by the way! I appreciate it. I didn't feel like eating for a while, and now I'm realizing that was a mistake!

It's a weird feeling. I can't imagine dying in Deerington though. That flu is supposed to be the worst.

[Luz had managed to avoid that, but now she'd be wondering what situation would have had Michael killed].

[But he can avoid that another day!]
