[It's been a few days since dying, and Luz had unfortunately kept this to herself. If you haven't been able to tell, this girl has been having a pretty rough month, and it didn't seem to be getting better. She lurched her device to focus, and, though coughing, was looking directly into the camera].

So. Uh. Died. First time, ha ha, not a fun experience. Kinda looking for some company, here or just on this thing otherwise. I should probably be getting rest, yes, but staring up at the ceiling regretting stuff and hating yourself can only keep out the quiet for so long.

Also, been out of the loop a bit. Someone update me on things?

Luz was pretty sure that she was going to get an earful from people in the house, but ESPECIALLY from Ahiru, who had very much not wanted her to go on the mission. Luz had thought she could handle it and had handled somewhat similar situations before. Now, though, since they'd talked about it before, Luz knew it looked even WORSE.

Add the whole mix of self-loathing for being too weak to avoid death and the ever-present gloom of missing Fern and Varian, and Luz was pretty much a powder keg of emotions and blah. She was in her room right now, dimly lit with her purple lights and surrounded by a fort of stuffed animals and, well, Luz was a sight to see.

[After watching the video, Maul immediately went over to the Disaster House. He knew he'd pretty much been banished when Varian and Fern were still here, but even as it gave him a pang of pain to know they were gone, he quickly pushed that back down and continued on his way. They were gone, back to the sea, so he supposed there was nothing stopping him from checking up on those still there.

Of course, Maul being Maul, he doesn't use the front door but instead walks along the roof and over to the nearest window. Luz will be hearing a soft Tap, Tap, Tap! on the glass. There's Maul, though how he's managing to just stay there clinging to the side of the house without falling is a mystery unto itself.]

[Luz did hear the tap, and considering it was at her window, she had a pretty good idea who it was. No one she knew off the top of her head could fly, so there was usually one person she thought of who would be scaling the house. She opened the window].

Darth Maul? What are you doing out there?

[He's just holding on there, clinging like a bat to crevices and small uneven areas that only he would be able to find.]

Checking in on you, of course.

[She's been through a lot recently so Maul feels duty-bound to check in on Luz. He won't admit to being worried but he is a bit.]

[Luz opened her window so he could climb into her room. She didn't want him hanging off from the side of the house forever, after all].

Oh. Right. Because of the departure and then me dying.

[Maul leaped into the room in one graceful movement, landing on his feet in a crouch before straightening back up.]

That would cause anyone to be put under a lot of stress. So I felt it best you not be alone right now.

[Man. She really wished she was anywhere near that poised, other than at fencing].

Thank you. It's been a pretty rough month. Sometimes it really feels like its one thing after another, you know?

[The words come out awkward but with a sincere tone to the offer. He's found hugs often make him feel better when they are given by those who care about him.]

[That was a YES. Luz, who would normally have been shocked and awed by such a thing, was really more in the vein of just really needing one though].

[That's all the permission he needs. He wraps Luz up in a tight hug. Maul's never good with words but his actions speak volumes when he can't speak what he wants to. Right now, he just wants to let his young friend know that he's here for her, that she's cared about and loved.]

[A hug from Darth Maul was very different. Not strange, not bothersome, but different. As it turned out though, it was what Luz needed, and she clung a moment, making sure to keep her face out of his chest, since she was tearing up and didn't want that to get on him.

Yes, Luz did think about things like that. She was also thinking about how tired she'd been feeling this month: the loss, the fight with the Tyrant (Maul had been there for that), and then her death, followed with her coming back and remembering it all.

Honestly, there was only so much that Luz could take before she just felt like closing into herself].

T-thank you, Darth Maul. I know you're not normally an affectionate person.

No, I'm not.

[It's just not in Maul's natural personality to be like this even with people he's close to. Too many years spent being taught showing affection was weakness and therefore had no place in his life as a Sith.

But some of those walls have been broken down the longer he's been here in Trench and so he's alright with doing this small thing to comfort his young friend.]

But for you I shall make an exception.

I appreciate that.

[And she DID. She may not have agreed with everything the Sith did, but on another level, she did know that he was still struggling against the way he'd always been taught. From what Luz had seen, there was no affection from Maul's master. She knew this was something he learned].

I'm probably going to take it easy this month. Staying home more, taking care of pets and probably concentrating on my magic a bit. Keep me posting on how you're doing, won't you?

I will. Yes, keep yourself occupied and don't stretch yourself too thin. The city shan't collapse simply because you're not around to be everything to everyone. And pet the fathiers once in a while, their gentleness can help soothe some of the sadness you're feeling.

[Maul has now become a firm believer in the therapeutic ability of pets after acquiring his own.]

Of course not! I'm just a small person anyway, and I've had to be reminded a few times that me not jumping at the chance to help is not going to endanger anyone!

Trust me, even staying at home, I know better than to leave Delyn and Mila alone! I take them for a wa-well, run every day, and once they finally get to grazing, I pet them pretty frequently!
