[He's barely been here but for a few days, but already everything is overwhelming. He's trying to keep it together, but apparently there are other forces at work.]

[His Omni turns on and there's a fuzzy paw covering the display for a moment. It moves away and reveals Nara'a sitting in a small wooden shack, a needle and thread in hand. He's found some rags somewhere and has clearly ripped them apart to form more serviceable pieces of cloth. He's sewing a little bit, silent for a while, before he looks up at what his Omen is doing.]

Hey, stop playing with that.

[He sets his work down and picks up the Omni, looking into it.]

... Sorry about that. I'm... I was just trying to repurpose a few things that I found.

[He's quiet for a few moments before going on.]

I'm new, so I didn't want to bother anyone, and I thought maybe I could trade these for something else. Does anyone know of a place where I could do that?

I'm not the best at weaving, but I'm a fair hand. They should be serviceable, at least. A few might have patches, though.

[Hm. He nods and fumbles with the Omni for a few moments before the broadcast shuts off.]

Chizuru. Or do you prefer Yukimura?

[He's familiar enough with the customs of Yanxia and Kugane, and it sounds like a name from there. He's aware that it's not, that they're from different worlds, but... it doesn't hurt to ask, at the very least.]

[The bow only reinforces it, and he bows politely back, smiling. He heads inside quickly, tail twitching in interest as he looks around. Nara'a nods and goes to sit, noting the bird but not paying it much mind, right now. His own Omen is clinging to his pack, sniffing cautiously.]

[He hunts in his pack for a moment before coming up with a fairly basic black shirt, styled simply with long sleeves and a slightly curved waistline. He wasn't particularly making it for anyone, but that's what the fabric seemed to be made for, at least.]

Ah, here it is.

Chizuru is fine!

[ Despite her - apparent - formality towards him, she doesn't seem to have to think too long about that fact. From what she's seen, most people around here are more familiar with calling others by their first name, which is why she's trying to do the same in turn - though with her own formal spin.

But it at least means that she's definitely fine with her first name being used as she shuts the door behind him and then also moves over towards the seating area.

Watching him take something from his pack, and then..

.. ah.

Chizuru stares at that shirt like he just showed her a blue banana. Something totally impossible. ]

Ah, that is.. [ .. her voice trails off.

Awkwardly.

This is probably the worst possible moment for her to mention that she's not familiar with the style of clothing from any place other than her home, she thinks.. ]

Is that something people would wear where you come from..? [ S-Smooth, Chizuru.. except not really.

She just doesn't want to be rude! Since she thinks it looks like he put plenty of effort into it, but she has a hard time wrapping her mind around all these ~~newfangled~~ sorts of clothing. ]

[He pauses, and looks over what she's wearing. It's more of a Hingan fashion, and he looks back at the shirt.]

... I should have asked what sort of clothing you were familiar with. I'm sorry about that...

[He lowers the shirt, blushing a bit. His ears fold flat against his head and his tail curls around his midsection.]

I... I can work on something more appropriate for you! I'm not... I can make it better for you...

[ Oh sheesh. Oh no. Chizuru can basically witness this guy's heart breaking in real time over here, and she can't have that! She doesn't want to disappoint him, even if it's over something like this..!

So the girl shakes her head, and then she's suddenly standing up with some true energy going on here. ]

No! I'll wear it!

[ .. she suddenly sounds so determined, especially compared to a moment ago. But when it's to ensure that someone won't look so sad and flustered, Chizuru would do basically anything. ]

I want to try it on..!

[ Even.. though Chizuru has absolutely zero idea how to wear western clothing.

But it's-- it's fine! She'll figure it out? Somehow? Please don't be sad, Nara'a! ]

You don't have to if you don't want to, or it's not your style.

[But he still holds the shirt in his hands, a little red still lingering on his pale cheeks.]

I don't want to make you uncomfortable. You should wear the kind of clothing that you want to wear.

[He's a little surprised at her sudden energy though. It's like something he... would do...]

[Oh.]

You don't have to wear it just to make me happy.

It's alright. I.. I should at least try adjusting to other cultures. [ Chizuru says, still carrying some of that determination as she nods.

.. even if she is mostly doing it for his sake here. But hey, in her opinion doing something for someone else is never a bad thing. ]

Here. If you give it to me, I'll head to my room for a moment and try it on.

[ She holds out her hands, trying to seem as spirited about this as she can..! ]

[He hands it over, smiling. He's careful not to touch hands, just in case she's not comfortable with that. It's good that she's trying...]

[Maybe he should try her kind of outfits some time, too.]

All right. I'll wait here for you.

[ Nara'a is so thoughtful here that Chizuru can't help but feel like she should at least try. It's why she takes the shirt from him, thoughtfully bows, and then turns around to disappear into a room behind a door for a few moments.

.. in fact, it's.. a little longer than one might expect someone needs to take off their top and put on a different one. It's almost enough for one to start to wonder whether or not the girl passed out in that room, if it was not for the little noises of exertion escaping from behind the door.

A few moments later, Chizuru emerges. Or.. well..

She's wearing the shirt, but definitely not in any way that it's intended to be worn. One of her arms is stuck through the hole meant for a neck and head to pass through, which means her head is still somewhere inside of the shirt. ]

Um, I.. think I'm having some trouble..

[ To put it extremely mildly.

It's more like a disaster. ]

[... Oh no. It takes a lot of effort to keep his face straight, but he's nothing if not determined. He moves over to her to help her gently.]

The big hole is for your head. The smaller holes are for your arms. Here, let's - is it all right if I touch you? I can help you move your arms to the right places.

[Providing she agrees, he'll gently guide her arms over to the arm holes, leaving the neck hole free for her to pop her head through.]

[ There's a small sound of agreement coming from Chizuru, though it's muffled by the cloth that's still pretty much all around her except for the places it's supposed to be. Thankfully his help does the trick though, since it's impossible for her to not be able to move her head after he helps move around the shirt - which means that Chizuru's head appears once more a moment later. ]

Is it supposed to be like this..? [ She's pretty sure it is, but then again.. it has been proven that she is far from an expert.

The shirt is definitely a little too big on someone as petite as Chizuru, but it's not entirely unfitting either. It's just that it's a little more on the nightgown side than a regular shirt size. ]

It still feels so.. wide. I thought clothes from other places were supposed to be much tighter.. [ Or so were the rumours she heard back home!

Not like Chizuru realises it more has to do with a sizing issues here. She stares at Nara'a so innocently, truly not aware of anything. ]

[He chuckles lightly. She's very cute, and he goes over to his bag and takes out a small bit of chalk. He returns to Chizuru and makes a mark on the fabric at the right height, then a few more where the rest of the measurements should be taken into account.]

You can go and take it off if you'd like. I can get it back to you with the right size soon. I just needed to see where it fit on you so I could cut it down to the right size. It'll be more comfortable that way.

[He nods reassuringly and goes back to where he was seated, tucking the chalk back into his bag. His tail swishes in approval and amusement.]

I'm used to making outfits for everyone from people half your height to people twice it, so I tend to make them big. It's easier to remove fabric than to add it.

[ When he's busy making the markings on the shirt, Chizuru makes sure to stay very, very still, not wanting to ruin what he's doing by shifting at just the wrong moment.

She only starts moving again once he's seated once more. ]

People half my height..?

[ Sure, Chizuru is not particularly tall herself. But that's exactly why that thought is so strange to her.

She still seems to be keeping the shirt on for a moment - maybe just to feel what it's like to wear this style of clothing, since she's so unused to it. ]

I don't think I've ever seen anyone before who was only half as tall as me.. [ But then again, Chizuru's world only has humans and demons, and the latter are at the exact same size as the former. She isn't used to anything other than that. Even Nara'a, with his few inhuman features, is different than that. ]

Maybe even a third. Lalafell aren't very tall, though their influence tends to far outweigh their height.

[He shrugs. It's normal for him, but he grew up nearest to a city that's largely Lalafell-owned and influenced. He's used to seeing a variety of heights for tables and chairs and all sorts of things in inns.]

Roegadyn, on the other hand... they're very tall and wide compared to someone like me. So sometimes making things can be a bit of a challenge.

[He shakes his head, chuckling quietly.]

It's a little bit frustrating at times, but the challenge can be a good exercise.

That's amazing.. It sounds like there are a whole lot of different people where you come from.

[ It's quite different than what she's used to. Granted, Chizuru has already been meeting people in this place too who are very different from her, but she's yet to meet anyone that small who isn't just a straight up child.

She has met a lot of people a lot taller than her though. That part isn't so hard when Chizuru isn't a particularly tall girl.

Still - it's a wild thought to wrap her head around as she looks at him. ]

Does that make this place a little strange to you? I mean.. there's a lot of different kinds of people here too, but it seems to me like a whole lot of people are just human..

It does. I've been in places with a lot of hyur - or humans, I guess you call them - but never a place that was full of them exclusively. There's a lot of them here... is it just all h... human where you're from? I can't imagine a place that's not got other Spoken races...

[Sure, there's places where some clans are that are exclusively miqo'te, or bands of Roegadyn that roam, but big cities and settlements? Never exclusively one race. It sounds so... boring.]

[ It's very tempting to nod. It's not like it'd even be a really big lie, since as far as most people are concerned, humans are indeed the only beings around. It's what Chizuru believed, up to a few years ago.

.. but deep down.. she knows it'd be a lie. And Nara'a was so kind, coming all the way over here to let her try on these clothes, even willing to adjust them for her. It wouldn't be fair to full on lie to him, right? ]

There's just humans.. and demons. But demons look just like humans most of the time, so I guess there's not really as much of a difference as the place you come from.. [ She shakes her head. ] Most people wouldn't ever be able to tell if the person they were talking to was actually a demon, and not a human.

[ That's how much they can look alike. ]

I see. We have Voidsent, but they don't look like humans much... or sometimes they look a bit like humans, but they're very obviously not.

[Succubi fly. Demonic jesters are insane. There's only a few instances he can think of where he wasn't sure if something was a Voidsent or not.]

It sounds... confusing. Are there a lot of demons? Are they a big problem?

[He's had a few instances of Voidsent being a big problem, but he's always resolved those. ... At least the ones he's been able to find. He started as a thaumaturge after all, and those have a reputation for dabbling where they shouldn't - so he's always felt the need to go and clean up those types of messes.]

If they look just like people I can imagine that they would be...

[ She shakes her head. ]

There aren't very many demons left. [ So few, actually, that it's the very reason most people don't even know about demons. A whole lot of people never even encounter one..

So while it's a very personal problem to Chizuru, she knows that her experience isn't exactly.. well, the default one. ]

What are those Voidsent though? I mean.. Do you think they might be a little like demons?

[ Since he's mentioning them after she started about demons, while he was already mentioning a whole lot of other groups before that. So Chizuru can't help but be curious. ]

I see.

Voidsent are... from the Void, which is a plane that's been taken over entirely by the element of Darkness. It's... a lonely and barren place. They're able to be summoned to where I'm from via certain rituals and magics, though usually only their souls can cross over, not their bodies. A planar rift would be needed to have them physically cross over...

[Right, right. Cool it on the nerd speak.]

Erm... basically there'd need to be a 'tear' in the wall between worlds for them to pass through.

[ ... a.. plane?

Even though he makes sure to dumb it down for Chizuru there at the end, it's still a little hard for her to wrap her head around. She doesn't even fully know how they can all be together in this place while they come from different worlds in the first place, after all, but she's just decided to accept that fact without thinking about it too hard, since it'd just confuse her.

What Nara'a is saying here is a little like that. Just.. something she has to nod along with, even if she doesn't understand it.. It's not like she'd want to offend him!

(They don't sound very much like demons though, she thinks.) ]

Oh, I.. see. I've never heard of those before..

[ You know, in case as much wasn't obvious yet from the totally clueless look on Chizuru's face. ]

I don't think we have anything like that where I'm from.. [ Well, duh. Or she would've heard about them already. ]

It's all right. I... didn't expect you to. I've just... heard some of them be called 'demons' before so it made me think of them. There's also a deity that was worshipped a long time ago that was sometimes called the Demon.

[But Zurvan is a Whole Thing. Or was, before Nara'a and some others killed him.]

I have a tendency to go on a little too long... I've spent a long while with academics and people who go into detail too much for most people. If I'm ever being confusing you can ask me to back up a bit and I'll try to rephrases. I know it can be a lot...

[ Well, it's not like he's exactly wrong about having that tendency.. But Chizuru is way too sweet to call him out on it, or to even acknowledge it here. She'd rather put a positive spin on it instead.

Which she tries to do here. Even though she still looks a little sheepish for feeling like she doesn't know much, she tries to smile for him all the same. ]

No, that's okay! It just means that you know a lot. That's really impressive!

[ See, there she goes. She manages to find the positive angle. ]

You must be really smart..!

Ah, really? I'm... glad you think so.

[He smiles a bit sheepishly, ducking his head.]

I grew up out in the woods, so I didn't have a lot of ability to read books. I sort of caught up for lost time when I moved away from my clan...

[No book in the archives of the thaumaturge's guild was safe, other than the restricted section. And even then eventually he had dealings with that area, too.]

I like learning. It helps a confusing world make sense.

[ .. in the woods? She'd almost wonder why he lived there, but his mention of his clan makes it make more sense.. Maybe that's just where his group of people lived. It's not that strange for people to live in secluded areas, especially when Chizuru knows that's where she's from too, even though that was from a time too early to retain any real memories from.

So instead she hums along to show she's listening, until he arrives at that last part. ]

You know you can read up about this place too, right? [ He sounded new enough, so Chizuru wonders whether or not someone told him yet.

It's likely that someone did, but if he likes reading so much, she doesn't want him to not know this. ]

I haven't really been there myself, but.. um, I heard people say that there's a big archive full of books about this place. You could probably read there forever and never finish all the books there..

[ So there's enough of a reading supply there for him. ]

Oh? Really? I'll have to check it out. I'm... well. A bit of a nerd.

... Maybe more than just a bit.

[Anyway. He offers her another smile, eyeing the shirt that's swallowing her up. It's kind of cute... like a dressing gown on her, almost.]

I'm glad that this place seems like it has a little bit of something for everyone.
