Hello. Some of you may know me already, but to those who don't — I'm Rose Da Silva. Sharon's mom.

( Her smile warms, and she gently sets her mug down so she can turn her full focus on the video she's making. )

I've been here for... a while. Half a year now. I have to admit, this place isn't like where I come from at all, and I'm still... trying to adjust.

I know a lot of you are from worlds that may be similar to this one. You've probably been able to settle in a lot easier than me. But... I wanted to offer something. Because I know there are a lot of young people here, people... on their own.

( Her smile wavers, brow knitting slightly. A lot of people without parents, without help. And maybe they've been doing quite well on their own; Rose has certainly witnessed almost disconcerting levels of independence from the Sleeper youth. Often, it suggests that... many of them might not have had a strong parental presence back home, either. Several of them have directly told her as much, or she's seen... memories, shared by accident. )

I can't make things, but I can show you how to buy and use them, if you like. Like... well, if anyone might need some more clothes and could use a hand, I'd be very happy to show you the shops I've discovered around here.

( She's.... offering to help take you shopping, yes. This month, there's a growing compulsion to teach, and maybe Rose is....... filled with the need to do some Mom Teaching Things for others! )

There are some really nice shops in certain parts of the city. I'm sure we could find something to fit your personal style.

( Her smile brightens again; she seems excited. Back home, before she was venturing into the depths of Silent Hill to rescue her daughter, she was one fancy suburban mom. Shopping was her thing. And maybe it seems a little silly, considering so many young people around here are... warriors, fighters, have some sort of strong power.... do they really need something as simple as a shopping trip while she's Mom For A Day?

....The offer is there. She wants it to be there, just in case someone does need it. Because maybe she doesn't have a lot of Trench-appropriate skills to put out here, in comparison to others. But being a mother... that's what she wanted to be for her whole life. She's not explicitly framing it that way, but that's what she feels the most comfortable offering, guidance that might fall under the "maternal" or "guardian" category of teaching. )

I'd be happy to treat you to lunch or dinner too, or show you around other places in the city, if you like. The weather's so nice lately.

I've met a young lady who makes clothing for others, so maybe she could custom create some for you. I've also seen some things in shops that could maybe be adjusted to be more like what we're used to.

( Rose smiles at the thought. She'd love if more Sleepers felt comfortable in their clothing. He's right; this is like moving to a whole new country, and... even something as simple as having clothing that feels more like yourself... could help with that transition.

Oh, I don't want anyone to take that much trouble for me... I think I can find something in a store. I'm doing fine. I was in a martial arts tournament last month and--

[ An impressive flush suddenly creeps over his face. ]

I, uh--

[ This is the kind of thing one tells moms, right? And Rose has been nothing but nice to him. Still, he's a bit nervous about it. It's very personal. He'll circle around it a bit... ]

I wonder if you had any advice on, uh... what makes a fun date...

( Rose is about to insist that she help him find some things, it's no trouble, when—

—Oh. She pauses, gives a soft blink for a moment, before a different kind of smile eases onto her face. This is new territory; she hasn't gotten to be this particular role for Sharon yet, but she's certainly not shying away from it. )

You have a date? That's so exciting! ( She leans forwards a bit, her smile brightening. Finding places to have a nice (safe) date around here.... might be a challenge, especially with his need to stay lowkey. But she's more than willing to help. )

Are you thinking something inside or outside? With the weather getting warmer, the beach might be a fun spot.

[ His blushing smile falters, but he bears the mixed emotions with a (shred of) dignity he didn't have a few months ago. ]

Not sure about the beach. Some bad stuff happened there. Inside, I guess? I know the city well from patrols, but... that's the thing. I've only been around because of work. Haven't really gotten to know places for just fun.

Neat food is always good, but I don't want that to be the only thing... We've been just hanging out for a while now, which I guess counts as dates, but I want... I like seeing them discover new things.

[ A warm, fond smile replaces his embarrassment. ]

( Oh — bad stuff. Rose won't question him about that, not in the middle of this conversation. So her smile softens, and she purses her lips for a moment in thought. Finding entertaining places for young people in this place... might be a feat. It's not as if they can just go catch a movie, or go to the arcade, or something like that. Such places don't really exist, here.

...But that might not mean those kinds of options are impossible. )

I know there's a theater, if they might like that kind of thing, but... in this place, I'm thinking date-planning might require a lot of creativity. ( She gives another smile and taps her finger against the side of her mug. )

You could set something up inside for them. What do you think about roller skating? That was all the rage when I was young, and I've seen people wearing them here.

[ He's helped put on informal movie nights with an Omni projected onto a white sheet, and he's definitely passed an arcade on patrol before... But this, now this is interesting. ]

Really?! I haven't seen any, and also I've never been! Oh, this could be fun... They haven't been roller skating either, I'm sure of it.

[ His bright eyes are already considering the possibilities. They could be either really good at it with their agility, or really bad with their lack of experience. Either way, it could be fun. (And if it's corny, he has no inkling. If he did, he'd do it anyway.) ]
