[the video starts focused on a shelf, and on that shelf is a doll. absolutely the kind that just exudes 'listed on ebay for having the spirit of an angry victorian child in it' vibes with its dead eyes.

when viktor speaks his tone could not be more dry.] Some of you might have noticed the unpleasant dolls that, when ignored instead of bought, come to life violently. This is a matter our household is not entirely aware of because Palamedes continues to gladly buy any unpleasant doll he sets his sights upon.

[offscreen, but not like, very far offscreen (it is not a big living space), palamedes chimes in with a pointed, 'While I respect your aesthetic tastes, you're wrong, they're delightful,' that viktor will pointedly ignore as he continues.]

He will not stop bringing them. Some of them vanish after a week or two. He calls this one Sensible Bethany.

['She calls herself that, actually, I explained this already,' from the peanut gallery. the camera shifts as viktor turns to address him back]

Is this entire place not haunted enough without ugly dolls, I ask again? There is a limit, Palamedes.

[in the unfocused corner of the camera the doll absolutely turns its head to stare directly at the screen.]

[at least someone believes in sensible bethany. the sigh is in viktor's voice.] Well, she doesn't bleed or break things, which admittedly isn't a very high bar to clear but it is something.

... you really like the dolls? [people really like haunted dolls besides pal??]

I do. I think they are interest and for the most part probably have very tragic backstories.

[Because if one becomes a doll its obvious they have such things.]

[well she's probably not wrong about that. he stifles a sigh but can't help but admire the sentiment. it's a kind one, in a way, what with the trapped spirit thing.]

Well, fair enough, I admit. Have you come across any of the ones in shops this month?

I haven't, but I haven't really left the house much either this month.

[She had her reasons for the most part and only recently was considering it even if it was to distract herself.]

[ah right the uh. recent-ish dying. hm.] Well it may be worth the outing. At least you are someone who would appreciate the- dolls.

[had to stop himself from saying something like little gremlins. he's trying?]

How are you feeling now? Since when last we spoke you were having some trouble. [with uh. dying. politely avoiding bring that depressing topic up as much as he can.]

I'm feeling a lot better. I've been baking. Made those I live with a cake to enjoy.

[It was for her birthday and wanted others to enjoy something she baked for it, but that was about the extent of what she did for it. Since it was made sometime after her birthday. But two days after this talk... that will be very different.]

I would be happy to, depending on what my friends say anyway, but I think it should be fine so long as they probably stay with me.

[Which she would be ore than happy to do honestly.]

You're a lifesaver. Bethany is going to stay in my office most of the time, [ahem, snuck that in there,] but I have a handful more. You're welcome to mingle with them a while when it's time to send them off.

[Like choosing a puppy, but it's the soul of a tragically deceased person in a doll. Yaaay.]
