[the video starts focused on a shelf, and on that shelf is a doll. absolutely the kind that just exudes 'listed on ebay for having the spirit of an angry victorian child in it' vibes with its dead eyes.

when viktor speaks his tone could not be more dry.] Some of you might have noticed the unpleasant dolls that, when ignored instead of bought, come to life violently. This is a matter our household is not entirely aware of because Palamedes continues to gladly buy any unpleasant doll he sets his sights upon.

[offscreen, but not like, very far offscreen (it is not a big living space), palamedes chimes in with a pointed, 'While I respect your aesthetic tastes, you're wrong, they're delightful,' that viktor will pointedly ignore as he continues.]

He will not stop bringing them. Some of them vanish after a week or two. He calls this one Sensible Bethany.

['She calls herself that, actually, I explained this already,' from the peanut gallery. the camera shifts as viktor turns to address him back]

Is this entire place not haunted enough without ugly dolls, I ask again? There is a limit, Palamedes.

[in the unfocused corner of the camera the doll absolutely turns its head to stare directly at the screen.]

Apparently they take offense to that. If you see one in a shop and feel compelled to buy it you are, unfortunately, stuck doing so.

[the look he gives is 'more trench bullshit.' if it isn't paleblood bullshit it's this.] They are fiends. Palamedes is just a soft touch.

I might have an especially wretched looking thing in my household currently. Melody doesn't like him. I don't like him. But I was talked into it by a silver-tongued salesman.

[oh lord. viktor cannot help but cringe and suddenly appreciate sensible bethany a little more in light of this. yikes.]

I truly, deeply wish I could safely advise you to crush it immediately, Miss Dawson, but frankly I am afraid we both know the Trench would never be so kind.

If it helps they do seem to disappear after a couple of weeks. Long, unfortunate weeks.

Weeks? Oh no. That's a very long time to be surrounded by dolls like this. They even invade my bedroom, it doesn't matter if I lock the door or not.

I am going to test putting a rag over them, though I doubt that will help. They want to watch and be seen while being generally as unpleasant as-

[bethany flops over with a loud thump just to make him jump a little, which he does before glowering at her. got him...]

... this is going to be a long month. At least we aren't hallucinating this time.

And I'm likely to pile them into the firepit if they don't stop. I don't want these things anywhere around me.

[she keeps a close eye on the mini-mes, but none of them do anything. until she turns her back and all of them gain threatening looks on their faces]

I'd almost rather hallucinate. At least then, I know it's not real.

You have a point there. Maybe not the bugs but the mushrooms weren't nearly as disruptive.

[a sigh.] We'll simply have to make do. How go your efforts with the book writing? [he can pointedly ignore annoying dolls, just watch bethany]

The bugs were...[and she visibly shudders] Though I'd still love to meet the one who sent the mushrooms and have a nice, long talk with them. About playing with people's minds which are already...subject to being open to anything around them.

Not well. I can't seem to find a central theme to write it around, other than the oddities of Trench when seen from a turn of the century mind.

I would join you. Though I admit I've been having a little trouble with the dream walking now too, if we're speaking of invading minds. Not terribly often but I haven't the faintest clue how one controls it or where to start looking.

Hm, the other man you are speaking to, Palamedes? He may be of help. He is good with archiving history and even in his world had the ability to read items by touching them. [a shrug] Either way he may find your work intriguing.

I have yet to, but I fear that it's only a matter of time. However, Maul taught me some meditation techniques which seem to be helping, so I'm grateful to him for that. There are dreams I'd never share with anyone, no matter the circumstance.

Really? Then I'll have to follow that avenue of discussion with him. It's a rather rare thing that someone comes here with those abilities already in play. And, I would like to think so?
