Why hello there!

[Snow White is in her kitchen, which is really pretty standard. This time, however, she's not surrounded by food that is being jarred, pickled, or dried. Her army of animal friends is around her, per the norm. The more observant will notice that Snow has on an apron and has several stray bits of dough and mixing bowls around her.]


Several friends of mine have asked, and I thought, well, why not offer it to everyone!

I would like to offer baking and cooking lessons to everyone who might want them, oh not these friends mind you [Snow gestures to her animals.] they already know how to cook! [Because of course they do]! I can teach you the very basics, or if you'd like, much more advanced lessons as far as I'm able to!

I think everyone should be able to cook. I can teach you how to cook outdoors as well! It's very easy to start a fire once you know the steps.

The only ingredients we won't use are apples, but if there's anything else you've always wanted to learn, I'd be happy to try and help you!

[A songbird tweets something and she turns to look at them.] Hmm? Price? I haven't thought of one, I'm sure we can figure something out. [In that, it will be very likely Snow will ask for nothing in return because she does that.]

Well, don't you fret, I'll take care of the traditional dishes from home! When it's the right season, I'm thinking of zwetschgenknoedel! And the mead I made at the beginning of winter should be ready by now! Do you think Rapunzel will want some? She's from the same kingdom, isn't that right? Now that I have such an advanced kitchen, I want to make all the things I've always wanted to!

Oh! Wouldn't that be so much fun! One giant party! A ball! Do you think they'll ever throw a ball here, Varian?

Oh wow, you're really going all out here! And yeah, she would. Cass too, maybe? She's from the same kingdom, too. Though uh... give me a chance to broach it with her first. She's a little touchy around new people. But maybe some home cooking will help her out a little.

It's likely? We had a big one not too long ago and the dream had them every couple months. I think there's a good chance another one will roll around eventually.

I have the kitchen for it! I want to! I'm getting to make things I've never gotten a chance to before! And people will eat it, Varian! I can meet so many people now! [Snow, just like Rapunzel, has never been around PEOPLE before coming to Trench. This is really not all that far off from Rapunzel's first time in Corona and meeting new people and getting to know everyone.] I can't wait to meet Cass too! [Aha, about THAT, Snow.]

I've never gotten to wear such nice clothes before either, you know? My clothes were just the scraps and rags I could find and stitch together. But now, I've never had such soft clothes before coming here.

That's very true, people will always come for food around here. It's a guarantee to get folks in your house.

[Is that how he and Fern ended up with a houseful? Probably. Also ha ha ha. ]

Yeah, you'll...definitely need to give her some time first.

[He doubts Cass would actively hurt Snow, but still. Better safe than sorry. Snow is VERY much like Raps and that might rub her the wrong way.]

Aww. Well, I'm glad you've got that, too. Plenty of clothing stores and haberdasheries here, right?

In my house and in a good mood! I fed seven dwarfs, I would like to think I'm quite skilled at cooking! [And that's no easy feat, feeding dwarfs and fae-folk.]

Don't worry, Grumpy just needed some time too!

Oh yes! And I can even make new things too! It's so nice, I know there is a lot that isn't, but I think it's important not to forget everything that's wonderful too.

That's a good point actually. You're probably used to feeding a lot of mouths. And yeah...that's...yeup.

[He really hopes she never calls Cass "Grumpy" to her face.]

That's...a really positive outlook on everything. That's...nice.

Oh yes! My sweet dwarfs gobbled up my food, it was a great compliment to hear the music in their soup! [She giggled.]

Oh, well, you have to remember that you're the one who can fill the world with sunshine. Besides, I always had to wish for things to get better. I knew my life couldn't ONLY be what it was like in the castle, and I was right!

[What even, Snow?]

...Yeah, I'm not so good at the sunshine thing. I usually leave that to more optimistic people. But yeah, nothing wrong with wanting...something better.

Oh! [She giggles.] I suppose it's a bit hard to explain, you would have to see it and hear to understand!

[Wow, WOW Varian, you don't get to judge the OG princess and her music. We can't all have Alan Menken making Broadway belting ballads for us.]

Oh? You don't think you're the optimistic sort?

Well, I guess I'll have to wait for a chance to do that.

[Not ALL of them are blessed with The Menken.]

Hah, no. I'm a realist. Not so great with the...sunshine and rainbows.

I'll have to make soup soon! And we'll have to find seven dwarfs!

Then you should have even more reason to be about sunshine and rainbows, Varian.

Hah, sure thing, we'll...do just that.

[He does not have the heart to tell her how likely it'll be that any of her dwarves show up, much less seven of them.]

Iiiii don't know, not really. I leave that to...other people.

[Look, Varian, she's WELL aware the likelihood of finding seven dwarfs is beyond low, beyond zero, even. But she is absolutely going to hope for it. That's how she's survived years of... everything, is hope.]

But Varian, you can't have rainbows without rain. You're just waiting for the rain to end.

[He resists the urge to tell her he's been waiting for the rain to end for the vast majority of his existence.]

Hah, I guess you've got a point there. Heard anything on the metaphorical weather forecast yet?

Well, springtime should be just around the corner if this is place is anything like home. I do know it isn't, but it somewhat is since we did have such snow for winter in December and January.

I'm so excited spring and summer are coming though! We'll need to start seeding as soon as we're able, especially so we have a much more bountiful harvest in fall!

But as for right this moment? Spring is coming and it's a lovely day because I get to speak to so many people. [And that's what Snow has never been ALLOWED to do, is talk to people, interact with them. Here? Here she's been allowed to do it SO MUCH and she adores every moment.]

I'm not sure. It doesn't look like the ground is so hospitable for plant growth. Fern struggles with it.

[He's not expecting intense blooms everywhere. ]

But maybe with the soil we've managed to get going we can have like...parts of the place with nice things growing. Myabe.

[Ugh. Going outside and interacting with people. He can, at least, understand why this is important to Snow. ]

There is that, I guess. Things are a little less...murdery at the moment out there for you to walk around in.

Well, then we'll just have to try our very hardest to help the soil. I've heard burying fish above the crops helps them grow stronger! We've plenty of fish, perhaps we should try that. Though I don't know why it must be fish. I'm also not sure if it has to be a certain type of fish.

Oh, anywhere my stepmother isn't is less, what did you call it? Murder-y! So long as she isn't here, then here is the safest place to be.

[That... is an absolutely depressing statement.

It is also a completely true one.]

We do, Luca's been working on some fish-fertiliser, he'll probably be able to help you. There's a whole scientific process to using fish carcases if you wanna know. I can bring notes and everything.

Oh, I doubt I would be very good at reading your notes, dear. Even if they are in our native language. I'm still not a very strong reader.

Well, what other way is there to look at it. So long as I exist, she'd be upset, and so long as I'm where she can reach me, I'm not safe. And this place has solved two problems in one solution! [Because the trauma of your only parental figure wanting to murder you violently is something she can't really... change. So she'll just have to settle on 'safe.']

Well, I'll never turn down pie. I have a houseful of people to feed after all.

Well, I'm quite used to feeding a full house. If you want a night off and they want a proper feast, just let me know and I'll be happy to do it.

After all, if I can feed seven dwarfs I'm sure I can feed your entire household!
