Why hello there!

[Snow White is in her kitchen, which is really pretty standard. This time, however, she's not surrounded by food that is being jarred, pickled, or dried. Her army of animal friends is around her, per the norm. The more observant will notice that Snow has on an apron and has several stray bits of dough and mixing bowls around her.]


Several friends of mine have asked, and I thought, well, why not offer it to everyone!

I would like to offer baking and cooking lessons to everyone who might want them, oh not these friends mind you [Snow gestures to her animals.] they already know how to cook! [Because of course they do]! I can teach you the very basics, or if you'd like, much more advanced lessons as far as I'm able to!

I think everyone should be able to cook. I can teach you how to cook outdoors as well! It's very easy to start a fire once you know the steps.

The only ingredients we won't use are apples, but if there's anything else you've always wanted to learn, I'd be happy to try and help you!

[A songbird tweets something and she turns to look at them.] Hmm? Price? I haven't thought of one, I'm sure we can figure something out. [In that, it will be very likely Snow will ask for nothing in return because she does that.]

What kind of basic cooking lessons would you recommend for beginners?

Well, let's see! The very basics would be cleaning your food, how to cut it in different ways, how to know when something is safe to eat and not safe to eat, how to tell when something is properly cooked, how you can measure things when you don't have measuring cups or spoons, and how to use basic tools like a cauldron or frying pan! Or if you don't have that, how to substitute for them.

Those would be the very basics, I think.

[ Oh, oh. Klee gives Snow a little wave. This would be perfect to make treats and stuff for her friends. Though, does it count if she learns how to make treats from Snow White and then giving her some. Well that's future Klee's problem. ]

Hi Snow. Can Klee learn to cook too? I can only make fish and sandwiches. [To her, blowing up fish counts as cooking them. ] Klee ate the food you gifted me. It was super yummy. Plus, it should be okay to learn to cook since you're a grown up. Klee only supposed to cook with one.

Oh! That would be because my stepmother poisoned me with one! I still have it, actually, the poisoned apple arrived with me. It hasn't rotted even a little because of the magic in it.

I'm good with the cooking lessons myself, but this is nice. Maybe you should get people to bring their own ingredients? Then that'll save you being out of pocket while you figure out what you're gonna charge them.

But my! Varian, you're always so clever! That's such an excellent idea, plus, that way they'll be able to make something they've always wanted to try. And if it's the wrong sort of ingredient, I'm sure I have plenty stored for me to substitute it!

any assistance with cookery would be greatly appreciated. i never had to do it myself before so i'm a bit at a loss as to how i should proceed. however i learn quickly and am willing to return the favor to others in the future.

Oh! Well, everyone needs to start somewhere so we can start with the very basics like learning measurements, different tools, how to use them, and simple dishes like soups, stews, and kinds of pasta, things that are a bit more forgiving if you are starting out.

I've had an ongoing problem with that. Any kitchen I run into just turns into a war zone.

...well, I guess I wouldn't mind learning to cook a few basic things. To feed the humans, and all. I mean, I don't have any to feed right now, but it doesn't hurt.

[There was a bad couple of weeks back in Deerington where he'd had to take up the project of keeping Peter fed, and Michael suspects he could have done a little bit better than canned soup and pasta.]

Oh, well, I tend to make a lot of baked goods. I really enjoy baking bread and pies. But I can really make anything, I suppose if I practice and have a recipe. Well, almost anything! But it really just depends on the interests of my students! No point in teaching them how to make a beef stew on rice if they don't eat meat!

Oh, you know, that is a very good question! I haven't really investigated! I think a lot of crab and fish, though! I do know how to prepare such things if you'd like! We can do a stew, or fry them, or boil! Which ever you'd like!

A friend in Deerington helped me improve my cooking skills, and I'd say they're adequate for my needs, which are few. [ Mostly he'd enjoyed cooking for his close friends, and especially for his partner, but they've all gone by this point... Now it's just him. ] But I've had a harder time with baking. So I'd be interested in anything you could teach there. As for payment, just let me know what you might want.

Oh! that's wonderful!

Baking tends to be much more precise than cooking. Cooking you can season to your liking and things tend to be a bit more forgiving with flavors and measurements. Baking they need to be very precise or it could result in quite an interesting result!

Once, I put far too much flour in my bread dough, oh it was as stiff as a brick! I could have made a whole home out of those rolls that not even a blizzard could knock it down! [She giggles, clearly not upset with her mistakes and failures of old.]
