Why hello there!

[Snow White is in her kitchen, which is really pretty standard. This time, however, she's not surrounded by food that is being jarred, pickled, or dried. Her army of animal friends is around her, per the norm. The more observant will notice that Snow has on an apron and has several stray bits of dough and mixing bowls around her.]

Several friends of mine have asked, and I thought, well, why not offer it to everyone!

I would like to offer baking and cooking lessons to everyone who might want them, oh not these friends mind you [Snow gestures to her animals.] they already know how to cook! [Because of course they do]! I can teach you the very basics, or if you'd like, much more advanced lessons as far as I'm able to!

I think everyone should be able to cook. I can teach you how to cook outdoors as well! It's very easy to start a fire once you know the steps.

The only ingredients we won't use are apples, but if there's anything else you've always wanted to learn, I'd be happy to try and help you!

[A songbird tweets something and she turns to look at them.] Hmm? Price? I haven't thought of one, I'm sure we can figure something out. [In that, it will be very likely Snow will ask for nothing in return because she does that.]

[she can't help smiling widely] Yes, of course! After all, one never knows until they try.

It's a popular song where I come from. And I thought so, although it's not that original. But she says she likes it. I'd love to meet Faramund, what does his name mean? [after all, names are important]

It must have been nice to have so much company. So many people to depend on. [she says with a note of yearning in her voice]

Faramund means "a traveler's protection" or journey and protection to be exact with "fara" meaning journey and "mund" meaning protector. Isn't that just lovely?

Oh, I know! I completely agree. [Snow White understands the yearning, she's ached for the same thing.] They protect each other through thick and thin! No one is more loyal than a dwarf once you earn it.

But you can start depending on me, if you like! I am to be your teacher, after all!

Yes, it is. I've never heard either of those words, though, which language do they come from?

[she misses Jack like no other. she'd like to think she's dealing with his loss, but for the most part, she's putting off the mourning. there's too much to do and learn for her to allow herself that luxury] Are any of them here? I hope so, there's a lot to get used to here.

I would really appreciate that, Snow White. And the reverse is true as well, you can count on me, too.

Oh, it's German! That's my native language. Would you like to learn it? I'm teaching it to Fern, currently.

No, I'm afraid not. But I know they would want me to be happy and safe and make as many new friends as I possibly could. I've never really gotten a chance to do... anything like that before them, before here.

Oh, I really like that, being able to count on someone else. That's such a lovely feeling!

--oh! That explains it. I can read German, but I can't carry on conversations in it or understand when it's been spoken to me. It's probably a good idea to do something about that, isn't it?

[and Rose can relate to not being able to make friends until a certain point. she knows the feeling all too well] I'd like to be your friend, if that's acceptable to you. I'm afraid I don't have much practice making friends, but again. I want to do something about it.

It is. Entirely underrated in the world I came from, but that serves to make it more valuable now that I'm away from it.

Oh, German is a beautiful language! I'd be happy to teach you how to speak it! And besides, you already have a head start with reading it, which means you know the hardest part, the grammar!

Oh, I would very much adore our being friends! I've not had much practice either when it comes to people. So we can figure it out together! I'm very glad to be your friend, Rose.

Then I'd be more than take lessons in that as well. [a pause] Where I'm from, women weren't encouraged to know things. As a result, I want to know as much as possible.

[and she smiles warmly] I'm so glad. It's always easier to understand things when it's two people working together than it is when it's one person working alone. So I think we'll be fast friends.

I think that's a wonderful decision! I hope you learn everything you possibly want to! I'm learning things as well. I was never a strong reader. [Having your education stopped dead in its tracks to make you a servant in the castle will do that to you.] So I'm learning how to be better at such things. I've gotten much better since I've been here!

They do say two heads are better than one! And if we can't figure things out, I'm sure we can always find someone who does.

I hope so, too. And if you like, I'm sure that Never Mind could arrange a reading tutor for you. I live in Gaze, so it's close to the school. [and having one's education disregarded in favor of earning one's Mrs. degree does that, too] I'm glad to hear that. This place is...odd. But it has its bright sides.

They are, especially when it comes to navigating new territory. Though, the idea of being tutored in friendship is rather cute.

Do you think Never Mind would be willing to help me? How lovely! I never thought to ask the Pthumerians! Oh, it has endless bright sides! I've made so many friends here! Human and animal!

Well, you have to learn somewhere, I imagine! Someone had to figure out friendship.

I'm sure of it! Never Mind is terribly interested in everyone knowing as much as they can, so they'd find you a tutor without asking much. And the Pthumerians are, except from him, a little nerve-wracking.

Yes, and it certainly wasn't Adam and Eve.

I admit I've not spoken with any of them. But I should give them a chance, it wasn't very nice of me to not go and meet them.

But... will you come with me, Rose. I've never met a Pthumerian before, I don't wish to say the wrong thing.

Adam and oh! [She giggles.] No, I suppose not. Maybe a bit after them.

I'm sure they'd understand. Their appearances can be rather...intimidating.

Of course I will. And you'll do fine, you're friendly and kind, I'm sure they'd like you.

[Rose grins] Yeah. Not their sons, either. So maybe their grandchildren?

Well, Madam Generosity and Argonaut seem very nice, and if Never Mind is kind too, how wonderful! But perhaps they just have rough exteriors.

I do try, I find there can always be more kindness in the world. [A good philosophy, but one easily manipulated.]

Perhaps so! In any case, it must have come from somewhere, no one is born with friends, as sad as that sounds. But look how many you can make!

They are. And both of the are beautiful in their own ways. And Never Mind...yes. He's kind, despite a rougher exterior.

There should. Most people where I grew up were so greedy and desperate to maintain their status that they forgot how to be kind. [also easily manipulated if someone seemed kind to her]

I am. So many people from so many versions of Earth, not to mention those from other planets entirely!

Oh, I think snakes are so lovely. And Argonaut is so cute! Like a rabbit and moth combined! Well, I'm very glad to hear that. Is Never Mind your patron?

Oh, how terribly sad. I don't put much stock in status. After all, I'm a princess and that certainly didn't mean anything back home and doesn't mean anything here.

I completely agree! Have you gotten a chance to meet others from other planets?

I must admit to some...reluctance when it comes to snakes. I grew up in a part of the city with very precisely cultivated and chosen greenery, so I have little experience with snakes. And I've yet to meet Argonaut, but he sounds adorable. [and she looks thoughtful]...I don't know?

I never did, either. [and Rose nods] ...once, I had someone compare people of my status to royalty and it often did mean something there. But not always and I never liked it.

Yes and it's certainly something I'd never imagined possible. We barely even had, um...sci-fi? I think that's what they call it. Other planets were unthinkable.

Oh, snakes are just ad nice as any other animal. They really get such a terrible reputation! But they're as nice as wolves and bears and owls, they can't help what they have to eat. But if you like, I can introduce you to some very nice snakes!

I especially dislike when people use status as an excuse to treat people unkindly, that makes me the most upset.

I never even met people outside of my country, but now there are people from everywhere. It's so exciting. You should speak to Maul! He's very nice! [He is not.]

Really? I know it's ridiculous, but all I can think of is the story of Adam and Eve. Which I'm sure was hogwash, but even stories have an impact. But...yes. I'd like to meet some nice snakes.

You wouldn't like my ex-fiancé. He was entirely happy to use his status against people.

I'm mostly amazed by how much progress had been made between my time and the time of most everyone else. And if he is, then we'll have to meet. [LOL]

Then I shall be happy to introduce you. After all, there hasn't been a single animal I've met that wasn't lovely in some way. Some are just more wary of others.

Well, I suppose my being a princess would have some sort of use, perhaps I could put him in his place. [She giggles, but... maybe she's also a little bit serious? It's REALLY hard to tell with Snow White's tone.]

Oh, I quite agree! One of my favorite things has been the new ovens, oh and the way bathtubs are now! You can have warm water in just moments!

I'm so glad. Their species has been maligned since the dawn of time. No one can be as awful as their reputations insist. Especially not animals.

Snow, I would absolutely love to see you do so! I'd marry you on the spot! [was she joking? mostly. but she's recently discovered that bisexuality is a thing and, well. Snow is ridiculously beautiful]

Ovens and bathtubs and microwaves and dishwashers and laundry machines! How on Earth did we survive without them! They're so very convenient.

I know! The poor things! Really, they can't help that they eat what do they do! Same with wolves and bears and all my other predator friends. Although, owls seem to have only good reputations, so I'm not sure how they managed. They are very good animals, though.

[Snow White blushed deeply, her snow-white cheeks getting a bright bit of color.] Oh! Goodness! Well, I'm honored! You're lovely! [She giggled, not really taking it as anything more than a joke.] Well, he'll have to come here first, I suppose. And really, we're much luckier that he isn't, but you send him my way if you need it, Rose.

Terribly so! And it's so strange what is the same and what is different here. Like plague doctors! That was very surprising to still see!

And it's silly to be so scared of them. Once in finishing school, a snake got into the dormitories and you'd think a madman had been released among us. The others can't help what they eat, either. Even household dogs and cats need meat. And maybe because owls have somehow gotten the reputation of being wise? Otherwise, I don't know.

[and that's rather sweet. it's nice to talk to someone who doesn't seem to have an agenda other than being kind. and now it's her turn to blush] It's kind of you to say so! And I'll do that, I'm sure he'd be taught some manners in no time at all!

It is strange. I haven't ran into that much which reminds me of home, other than some people in Cellar Door dressing like they came from my era, corsets and all! They may be fun if they're not worn all the time.

Oh, they are wise! But every animal has their own sort of wisdom! Bluebirds, for example, love to sing when they're upset. And now I do, too. Bears will insist you enjoy every bite of food, you never know when times are lean. Things like that. But my goodness! Dormitories, how fun that must have been. Were there many of you at this school? What exactly were you finishing?

Well, if Grumpy can learn them, he certainly can. No one is as stubborn as Grumpy.

Some things remind me of home, the plague doctors like I said. But, the monsters, too, are not so dissimilar from what I'm used to, though they at least disappear within a month. Monsters back home were year-round. As for corsets, I don't mind them. [They were literally the only thing to wear in Snow's time so.] I'm much more excited about all the fabrics and colors.

That's a bit sad, though, to sing when one is upset. Unless the singing makes you both feel better about what's making you feel upset. And I'd never disobey a bear, they're far bigger than I am! And [how to put this since it was filled with back-stabbing future socialites, like she was expected to be] it was certainly different from home. And there were a great many of us, it was the best finishing school money could buy. As for what I was finishing...languages. How to manage household staff. Dancing. And being a perfect hostess for a future husband's society galas.

He'd better! If he wants life here to be something other than a misery.

My goodness. Monsters like the ones we have here, all the time? That must have been terribly frightening, never knowing when one would run into a monster. You're lucky not to mind them. [completely unaware of that fact] And I get excited about that, too, even though I'm living a much more simple life here.
