[ There's a faint sound of wind in the background of his broadcast, as if he's sitting somewhere up high. ]

Hello. Again. [ Oof, okay, not the strongest start. ] I'm Anakin Solo, a knight of the Jedi Order, at your service. I sort of remember being here before, and I wanted to thank everyone who helped me out.

They offered me a bed at the orphanage, but I don't want to take it from someone who might need it.
How does housing work here, exactly? I don't mind sleeping outside, but that doesn't seem wise in the long run.

[ A pause. ]

By the way, I don't remember the sky being like this before-- is this normal? As normal as anything is here, I mean.

[ Another pause. He's clearly not in his element. ]

Well, at least you're somewhat aware.

But even a Jedi needs rest and recuperation. We only sacrifice ourselves when it is necessary, not to sacrifice our wellbeing.

Find a place you're comfortable with. When you are needed, the Force will let you know.

[ Oof, he felt that rebuke even through the network. But it's a gentle one, meant to remind him to take care.

It reminds him of Luke-- Master Luke-- and he feels both comforted and homesick. ]

Of course, Master Kenobi.

[jedies]

[ he hums. ]

We do have space here, if you need it. I have a large house.

[hopesparks]

[ Anakin hesitates. His first instinct is to insist that he'll find his own place to stay for the night. But he thinks it through. For one, he doesn't know much about the Trench. He also doesn't have a place lined up right now and isn't sure how long it would take to find somewhere suitable, even for a night. And there's a small, childish part of him that is mentally wrung-out and just wants somewhere to stay that he knows would be safe.

After a long pause, he replies. ]

Somewhere to stay overnight would be nice, as long as you're sure.

[ As long as he won't mind the inevitable weirdness that will come with... all of this. ]

[jedies]

Of course. You're welcome to it for as long as you like.

[hopesparks]

Thank you. I'll... be by shortly.

[jedies]

[ Anakin makes his way to Obi-Wan's house, albeit at a slower-than-usual pace. He's gathering his thoughts and trying to reach into the Force for calm that has eluded him since he arrived here.

Still, he doesn't want to keep Obi-Wan waiting, so he arrives within an hour.

Obi-Wan can probably feel him even as he approaches-- he's strong and has that distinctive twinge of Skywalker lingering in his Force signature. He tries to keep his emotions close but a few slip through-- curiosity, apprehension, relief.

Anakin pushes his hood down and knocks on the door. Here goes nothing. ]

[jedies]

[ obi-wan opens the door promptly. ]

Ah, yes. Come in.

[hopesparks]

[ Just like that. No fanfare or scrutiny. Anakin blinks, thrown off by how nonchalant Obi-Wan is. ]

Thank you.

[ He steps into the house, carefully taking in his surroundings. ]

[jedies]

[ there isn't much to it. there are a few plants, comfortable furniture. rugs. some incense and candles on tables, but nothing more to suggest this is a home for a jedi master. ]

[hopesparks]

[ The relative simplicity of the house is familiar and comforting. It reminds him of his own Master's dwelling-- whenever he's actually settled anywhere. It's comforting but makes him a little homesick too. The tension and stiffness in his movements unwinds and he seems more at ease. ]

It's nice.

[ And he means it. Anakin has always been terrible at smalltalk, though. ]

[jedies]

[ obi-wan lets out a wry chuckle. ]

That's very kind of you. It's a little on the drab side, but I'll never get used to home ownership.

[hopesparks]

[ Anakin shakes his head slightly and returns the wry smile. ]

I'm not the sort of person to ask about home decor. I spend most of my time traveling.

[jedies]

Ah, how very traditional of you.

[ but not that surprising. ]

Still you must have a temple of sorts?

[hopesparks]

[ The smile slides off his face and Anakin turns away slightly, traces of grief in his eyes. ]

We used to.

[jedies]

[ obi-wan's expression grew solemn. ]

What happened to it?

[hopesparks]

[ He's quiet and, for a moment, it seems like he might not answer.

Until, quietly: ] It was destroyed. We've made a powerful enemy, and people are trying to take advantage by turning us in. They hope for profit or protection, but they'll be conquered just like all of the others.

We saved almost everyone. Master Ikrit he... [ Anakin swallows thickly ] ... bought us time.

[ They all limped away with their lives. They survived, damaged but not broken. ]

[jedies]

[ as any jedi would. ]

But you were saved.

[hopesparks]

[ He turns back to Obi-Wan, not quite smiling but the sadness has left his eyes. ]

We were.

My-- Master Skywalker has people out looking for somewhere safer, for the children if for no one else. But everyone knows our Order is wherever we happen to be.

[ They didn't always have a Temple or an Academy or even a formal Order. But they had the Force and the will to use it for the sake of others. And they had each other. ]

[jedies]

[ he smiles. ]

True. A place is just a place, after all.

But there is no shame in feeling that loss.

[hopesparks]

[ Anakin nods. Truth be told, he's still struggling with it. ]

I don't think I'm ashamed. I think I'm just... not sure what to do with it.

[ A wry smile and a shrug. ] It happens more often than not lately.

[jedies]

[ obi-wan assesses him. ]

I think you do know, but are reluctant. To feel an event in its entirety and then to let it go . . . is no mean feat.

And I doubt you ever had the time to process it.

[hopesparks]

[ Any sort of nonchalance he'd built up is gone just like that. Obi-Wan saw right through him, in the same way Master Ikrit had. ]

Am I that easy to read?
