[ it's a dark and — well it's just a dark month and ahiru never really functions well in the dark. she gets spooked easily which is sort of what happens here. a sequence of events, by a duck.

1. she enters the kitchen. the lights are off and she bumps into various furniture. ]

Ow ow ow ow —

[ 2. her hand brushes against a coat hanging on top of a chair. in her mind, she imagines a snake.

3. She panics and lets out a loud: ]

Quack!

[ 4. ahiru ends up turning into a duck on screen. gasp! not that she has realized she's being recorded.

5. she quickly waddles off and there's the sound of water and she comes back into the kitchen with a relief. ]

— Phew that was clo . . . ooooose, O-Odette! Were you displaying this the whole time?! A-Ah!!

[ ahiru immediately runs in front of the feed, waving her hands frantically. ]

You didn't see that! There's nothing to see! It was . . . uh, uh, a MYSTERY DUCK that broke into the house but it's gone now!

[ alas, ahiru has been well and truly outed as . . . a duck. ]

I didn't realize Mr. Graham might be a demon. I have to apologize!

The demon was planted in him, I believe. That makes things very different.

Also, Paimon can be pretty intense, to be nice about it.

Yes, there was a whole ritual. I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to go into detail, but it was pretty messed up, from the gist of it.

Peter? No, I doubt it. He can still be him and share a body with a demon.

I just don't know how long he'll be able to do that.

I didn't know he was having such a hard time . . . He didn't tell me!

He has Luna, so trust that he's not doing as bad as he could have. She's probably a big reason why he's doing not so bad!

You'd be amazed at how much difference it makes when you have someone by your side.

Not here, unfortunately. Someone like that you have to probably find through time and effort and awkward confessions!

Back on the Isles, this is someone I probably could have that with.

[ oh, that's lovely. ahiru perks up. ]

[Luz looked down, a strangely bashful smile on her face].

What's she like?

[Luz thought a second].

She was prickly at first. Grumpy about not being the best, because she was expected to be, see? But after all that, I find out she's really terrific and sweet and just trying to have a good time.

It's weird. If she were here, I'd want to protect her, like, all the time.

That's not weird at all.

[ those are strong feelings. the kind she has for mytho. ]

She sounds a lot like Rue.

I sure hope not! Too bad no one's like her, even with all these people from other worlds.

Is Rue actually a big sweetheart too? Aww!

Mmm. She acts very grumpy too and pretends to be tough, but Rue is very sweet and kind deep down.

Actually, I thought you were gonna mention Fakir!

Fakir . . . ?

Oh, yes. Fakir was a lot like that too in the beginning.

[ — with fakir, she doesn't need to do anything. she doesn't need to hide or pretend. even when they disagree, they still come together. she's never had anyone like that before, who fit so perfectly with her, who understood her feelings like they were his own. who held her so gently. — ]
