[ What kind of party decorations would Uraraka like best? The question lodges itself at the back of his mind, ever present. He ends up at a local cafe for a few hours scrolling through his device looking at party blogs. There's a notepad in front of him with different themes jotted down: wild west, pirates, tropical island, fright night, luau, masquerade, under the sea. It's quite an interesting assortment and he looks so very serious about it, staring intently at what he's written before adding another - rave. 

When social media blogs fail to help him narrow down his choices, he turns to Trench. The video turns on showing him seated outside a cafe in street clothes. Once he sees that it's recording he gets straight to the point. ]

[ Anyone who knows him is welcome to take up a seat and help him hammer down a theme. He can be found scrolling through a few party blogs online. Most of them are full of people AT parties instead of the decorations, so he ends up zooming into the background a lot of the time to catch a glimpse of the decor instead of the group cheering into the camera, beer sloshing, with ready smiles so unlike the one looking through them so intently. ]

[oh, it's allen's friend who always seems to be sleeping standing up whenever they have a spare minute. her little smile is fond and amused.]

Are you asking for any particular reason?

[almost two thirds of sansa's life took place in the long summer, but very little that they liked to do in winterfell would be appropriate here. the trenchwood is too dangerous for walks, and she has yet to see any little pools besides the salt lake that is only ever good to swim in under a full moon.]

We could walk in the gardens, I suppose.

I believe many enjoy swimming, though how safe that is here I am uncertain.

[ Power naps are how he functions. It helps that he's a light sleeper so standing isn't an issue. He also recognizes Sansa from when he dropped Allen off by the church. They haven't gotten a chance to talk with Shouto struggling with his corruption last month. Plus he's a task-oriented man. He stays long enough to complete a task before heading out. He doesn't participate in many conversations, typically listening more than adding his own input unless asked. She might have seen him working around the Guardian Sapling at times with a snow leopard lounging on one of the stronger branches, tail swishing in the air. It's the only time she can catch sight of his omen. Away from the cheery blossom, Kizu is absent. Tucked away within him, sleeping between his ribs, away from prying eyes. ]

[Oh, this is an odd thing to come across after a break in her cleaning. Ochako's done with her laundry, now in the process of folding it as she responds to her friend's inquiry. She half wonders if this is for something - Todoroki doesn't usually ask these sorts of things without there being some intended purpose - but doesn't think to ask outright, mostly because she's actually thinking of an answer.]

Mmh...I think it depends on how late into summer it is!! Early summer, I like to go down by the waterways back in Musutafu and watch the sunset and listen to the cicadas, but late summer, I really, really love just being outside at night. My mama and papa and I would take the train out to see relatives in the countryside, and we'd go to festivals, watch fireworks, and stargaze out across the rice fields there...

That was my favorite thing, actually...just laying on the grass and watching the stars. There's not as much light pollution out there, so I could see a lot of constellations! Oh!! And then I'd try to catch fireflies with my papa, ehehe...

Not particularly, though I admit I rarely got the chance to form much of an opinion. [also the braces make it kind of hard, but that's another matter.]

Why the inquiry about summer activities? [he'd guess maybe shouto is bored and thinking of things to do but he's also... hm, not sure shouto is the type to decide to have a summer blast here.]

[she certainly remembers him from the last party, where he seemed to be sleeping every time neither of them were talking to anyone.]

You could have any sort of party in the summer, unless there was something you wanted to do in the snow.

It would be nice to be outside, unless it's too hot. It's already getting to be warmer than anywhere I was during the long summer.

Cellar Door is the safest place to gather outside, I think, but there are people who could put up wards or barriers anywhere. Still, I think it's a nicer place to have a party than Gaze.

[ Her face pops up and instead of panic, his head tilts just slightly to the right. The only change in his expression is the slight parting of his mouth when she starts reminiscing of summers long gone. Her words bring up scenes he's seen in social media that mean nothing to him who never even got to play with his own siblings.

A young girl in love with summer and the night, skipping down the countryside with her mother and father on either side. She, preening with joy, grabs onto each of their hands when the first firework jets into the sky exploding into a thousand sparks of every color. It's a borrowed memory, probably not all that accurate, but it strikes him nonetheless. Foreign and out of touch, like a scene in a movie he once watched with the understanding that it was a 'fairy tale'. Not real. Except, it was.

He blinks when she laughs, remembering his task, and starts writing it down while it's still fresh in his mind, adding an asterisk by each.

I didn't know you liked to star gaze.

[ He keeps writing, pen moving steady, unrushed. ]

Have you gotten a chance to do that here?

Summer is coming up at the end of the month.

[ Not quite the whole of it, but he's aware this is an open post and doesn't want to ruin Bakugou's surprise.

Also, what do you mean he's not the type? He's in street clothes and wearing sneakers! He's practically a party animal. You can even see his ankles!! AND his collar!!! ]

True enough. Let's see... well, if you are set on enjoying the summer to its fullest you could try and find- what are they called? The water guns.

[ Providing a winter wonderland in the middle of summer is something he's uniquely suited for, so at her suggestion, he tilts his head, considering. ]

[ Thought so. He'll just be blissfully ignorant so nothing new there, but that won't stop him from being, well, him.

Spirit indeed. Who knows one of these days he might even smile within Viktor's vicinity wouldn't that be a summer miracle, as it stands, Viktor gets an even look. ]

Water guns? [ Okay, apparently, he is a teenage boy. ] Have you seen them here?

[aha, all teenagers are weak to water guns. viktor shakes his head at that, but!]

I can keep an eye out when I am in the markets, though I imagine it wouldn't be terribly difficult to make something with a similar function. It is simply a device that shoots water, yes?

[she makes a curious face when he mentions snow. she hadn't actually thought it would be needed at any point. it was just the only thing she could think of that summer generally precluded.]

Not everywhere in the city is safe from beasts and strange creatures. Palamedes was maintaining all the wards in his field by himself, last time.

[it had been really quite risky with all the bees. but perhaps the wards kept out the bees?? regardless she hopes he talked to wanda about a permanent barrier.]

You only truly need food, drink, and music for a party, and somewhere safe to have it. I'm sure everyone will be glad of the chance to be together.

[ He's more weak to the idea of his friends having a blast with said water guns. Also, wait a minute, are you saying you can -- ]

I do not see why not, just a simple pump with a nozzle to concentrate the output. Construction would be easy, it's mostly the materials I imagine taking time.

[first fireworks now this. he needs to open a summer shop honestly.] If you help me find those I can construct some for you. Maybe we can make it part of one of your maintenance lessons.

[ Color him surprised. A legitimate excuse to find Viktor's 'friend' as he knows him. He doesn't talk to a great many people without cause, so this gives him a reason to. ]

You seem to know a lot about parties.

[ This coming from someone who knows absolutely nothing and is currently in the good company of two books on party planning. Being put in charge of decorations for a friend's birthday is one way to easily put pressure on the hero in training. It's proving to be harder than he first expected so excuse him for this small admiration. ]

I can get you the materials if you tell me what you need.

[ He's got enough blood vials for a hundred super soakers' worth of material which means he'll get at least enough for a dozen.

I can help. [ Said almost immediately. It's something he's interested in, even more so when he mentions their lessons. ] Do I need to bring anything?

[sansa smiles faintly. he seems altogether too surprised to hear that a powerful magician can make wards. perhaps he had been sleeping when palamedes wanted to talk to him, too.]

Yes, Palamedes knows a good deal of magic, and I know a good deal about parties. The ones people have here seem easy enough. In my world you had to entertain people for weeks at a time, to make it worth the trouble of however long it took them to get there.

[ Now, this needs to happen. He'll start eating more protein and iron to make up for it!

He shall await your list and head down to the market! ] A dozen, if I can find the materials. [ A pause and closer inspection of him. ] Will that be too much?

[assume that list is sent about an hour after their convo, and mostly consists of things like tubing, springs, etc. they are going to have some truly weird, steampunk looking water guns which? way cooler than normal actually. jealous.]

A dozen should be perfectly manageable as long as we have the supplies. [he assures, even if he's a little surprised by that many. still? if it's maybe for other teens too he is on board for the trench teens getting to just be teens for once.] I'll make sure the list reflects how much we need of each for that amount.
