I've had enough time travel and other weirdness going on in my life for the last year that I wasn't sure how far off my count of subjective days might be. But I woke up to this sword, which gives off some pretty interesting vibes. So either my Blessed Day is a really random day, or it's my birthday.

I'm going with it being my birthday. Nineteen.

I've always pretty much hated my birthday, as long as I remember. Some of it's personal, but even the personal stuff is tied to the fact that the day I was born, the galaxy where I'm from changed, and not, in my estimation - and a whole lot of other people's - for the better.

There's no, like, cosmic or destined implications to the fact I was born that day, by the way. Not as far as I know. Just cause and effect, maybe. Stress can lead to early births, right? I'm just a kid from a backwater planet in a big galaxy. My parents weren't anyone important.

But sometimes my birthday felt like a curse.

None of that baggage came from here. I'd like to try to put some of it down, you know? [He peers towards a window.]

It's looking bad out there, but if you want to brave it, I've got a big pot of mushroom stew on, and I think I'm gonna see if I can get this thing to project a movie. Not exactly a dazzling party, but it's more than I usually celebrate. Some company would be great. Or just talk to me on here.

Any suggestions for a must watch?

They loved me and were proud of me. And I'm proud of them. I don't think they would have wanted to me be unhappy and mourning them today, you're right. I don't think my new family would want that either.

I'm finding that letting go isn't always something you do just once and get it over with. [He sighs.] I wish it were easier.

Letting go is something that is never easy. Nor is remembering those that we have lost. There is no shame in that, even if we may wish it were easier in a way it helps us to honor them and appreciate what we have now.

You are right that they would be proud though. Offering help and good to hungry strangers with the strange things that are currently happening. It shows that you have a big heart.

[He can't help but be reminded of Master Kenobi recently telling him there was no shame in some of the mistakes he'd admitted to. He gives the older man a faint smile, and decides to go with formality, in his awkward way.]

You sound a little like the masters I've met of my Order. So. Thank you for your counsel.

I'm Ezra. Padawan Ezra Bridger, if you want to get into full names and titles and stuff.

I don't know about that, I'm just an old man who has learned many lessons over the years.

I'm Iroh, it is a pleasure to meet you Ezra. I don't really have a position or such formal titles anymore.

[He grins, because he's never good at keeping up the formal for long, and that sounded like permission not to try.]

I guess I'll take your word for all that.

Dragon of the West, though. As screen names go, it sounds pretty cool.

Ah yes, it was a name that I earned when I was younger. There was a young man that was kind enough to help me set it up and asked what else I was called.

[Hmm. Not quite coming across as an invitation to ask more about where that name come from, there. That's ok, Ezra's used to that sort of deflection, and he doesn't mind. Moving on.]

Not really any equivalent technology where you're from?

[It was a long story, or a very short demonstration, but not one to be done over such devices.]

No there was nothing like this where I am from. We relied on messenger hawks and couriers for messages over distances. And certainly, nothing that would permit you to see another without it being a portrait that they had sat for prior to.

[Though it might have been a blessing as well, it would have made their time in exile much harder if guards had more than crude drawings.]

That's very different than where I'm from. We have things like this and ships that travel between the stars to other worlds.

What about magic? Is that something you're used to?

There are few who travel between worlds, though they do not use ships to do so. I have as well. Though to travel to the stars, that would seem like a very long but exciting journey.

I suppose that there was, or that is what it is called here. We simply referred to it as bending. Those who are able to use their chi and energy to influence and move one of the four elements, fire, earth, air, and water.

Chi. That's...life energy, right? That doesn't sound too different from what I'm used to. Except it's not an affinity for a particular element, it's sensitivity to and influencing spiritual energy itself.

We don't call it magic either. Just using the Force, usually.

It goes by many names in different cultures, so that is not surprising. But it does seem to be a constant that spans across many of them, and there is much that we are able to learn from one another in how to express and utilize it.
