[Ezra has a Sword of Agency laid across his lap when he flips on the camera to his Omni. The very observant might note he's in one of the safehouses Ruby clued him into. He looks thoughtful.]
I've had enough time travel and other weirdness going on in my life for the last year that I wasn't sure how far off my count of subjective days might be. But I woke up to this sword, which gives off some pretty interesting vibes. So either my Blessed Day is a really random day, or it's my birthday.
I'm going with it being my birthday. Nineteen.
I've always pretty much hated my birthday, as long as I remember. Some of it's personal, but even the personal stuff is tied to the fact that the day I was born, the galaxy where I'm from changed, and not, in my estimation - and a whole lot of other people's - for the better.
There's no, like, cosmic or destined implications to the fact I was born that day, by the way. Not as far as I know. Just cause and effect, maybe. Stress can lead to early births, right? I'm just a kid from a backwater planet in a big galaxy. My parents weren't anyone important.
But sometimes my birthday felt like a curse.
None of that baggage came from here. I'd like to try to put some of it down, you know? [He peers towards a window.]
It's looking bad out there, but if you want to brave it, I've got a big pot of mushroom stew on, and I think I'm gonna see if I can get this thing to project a movie. Not exactly a dazzling party, but it's more than I usually celebrate. Some company would be great. Or just talk to me on here.
Any suggestions for a must watch?

Her feed comes on and she gives him a bright smile.]
I don't know a lot about movies, but I know that I've enjoyed the few I've seen. I would be happy to watch one with you sometime.
Also, "happy birthday." As they say. But I'm still older and wiser than you.
[She giggles that last bit, unable to take herself seriously.]

Uh huh. Of course you are.
[Then he breaks into a bright grin.] Thanks, Ariadne. Movie night with you sounds great.

Birthdays suck a lot. But the nice thing about 'em is that since you get so many you got tons of chances to make the next one a good one.
If you want a movie recommendation then Frankenstein is great. It's super sad, though.

[He's curious why this guy agrees that birthdays suck. But he's not sure if he should ask, especially on the network.]
Better ones is the hope, yeah.
Frankenstein. That rings a 'fake memories of Earth' bell. There's a few versions of that, I think?

Whether it is a special day, a cursed one, or just another day is entirely up to you and how you view it. You'll find that you have the power to shape much about it. So perhaps for this one, if you would like think of it as a fresh start and leave those worries and baggage to live and be who you really are.
Re: video; un: dragonofthewest
They loved me and were proud of me. And I'm proud of them. I don't think they would have wanted to me be unhappy and mourning them today, you're right. I don't think my new family would want that either.
I'm finding that letting go isn't always something you do just once and get it over with. [He sighs.] I wish it were easier.

Far as 'must watch', I would get in a lot of trouble if I didn't say 'Star Trek'.
[He really wants to say Star Wars, but he's getting The Look from someone across the room.]

Jaws. Can't go wrong with a good old horror movie. Either that or Galaxy Quest, you'll fucking love that one.

Thank you.
Galaxy Quest sounds like it could be fun.

Anyway, the first movie I ever saw was Jurassic Park. That's a pretty good one. All about the folly of playing god and...dinosaurs.

I don't know the circumstances which make your birthday more of a curse back home, but please let me say that I hope yours here is a good one.
As for movies...if you like scary, there's "The Hills Have Eyes." The original, not the Mistress-awful remakes. If you like psychological scary, there's "Black Swan," one of my all time favorites. And "Star Trek" is always fun.

Thank you, appreciated.
That's two votes for Star Trek.

[Haru you're 20.]
It's good you're choosing to celebrate it, though. Birthdays should be special, even if you keep things simple.

About half my life I didn't really celebrate. Time to turn over a new leaf.

[ Luke almost did not want to reply; it was clearly a touchy subject, and you had to be blind or not from the Galaxy to understand why. He let out a breath after a moment, managing a weak smile. ]
I want to say ‘me too’, but… well, we celebrated it on Empire Day, only because my aunt and uncle didn’t know for sure when I was born, and my birth was a better thing to celebrate that day.
no subject
[Ezra smiles faintly.]
From what Ben told me - if well, it's true for when and where you're from...I think you might have been too, yeah. Maybe a day or two after.
You're uncle is...Owen, right? And your aunt is Beru?
