Um. I think I've learned how to use my Darkblood powers.

The only question now is how do I turn them off?!

I recovered! But, ah, poor Sleeper was having an episode and got me in the shoulder.

But she immediately healed me up. She had that kind of blood.

[yeahhhh, it kind of was. but she'd rather hear about it from Luz than from anyone else]

Wait, there's blood which heals wounds? I know Palebloods can read minds, Coldbloods can start shit with fire or ice, and Vilebloods supposedly have poisonous blood. Who did it?

[Luz knew this was likely something she would have had to deal with more at home if she got there bleeding and shivering. Luca and Ahiru would have been mad, and Reaper would have been out for blood].

Yeah, that's Dark blood stuff. Uh, you know Vi at all? She has a sister with blue hair and braids. Jinx.

If you've ever seen her, trust me, you'll immediately know who she is. Hard to miss!

Wait, that's a Darkblood thing? [under her breath] Why didn't I know that was a Darkblood thing? Are you feeling up to coming here? I don't want to leave the house with everything kinda. Floating.

I think so. It's been a while since we had almost every blood in the house. But she healed me, yeah. I thought that would be the most messed up thing that happened this month, but that was dumb. Those Zealots were still lying in wake.

[And Luz hadn't heard Lexi mention them at all, which was good. If they'd ever nabbed her girlfriend, Luz was pretty sure that her resistance to killing them would go right out the window].

You mean going to see you? You even have to ask?

[aaaaand another loud record scratch when Luz mentions the Zealots returning]

Damnit. Damnit. I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you during that. This whole...egg thing had really crappy timing.

Well. I mean, yeah. Even with healing, you might be put on bed rest? I didn't want to assume anything.

[Whoo boy, where to go with this].

Believe me, I don't think you would have wanted to be around a few days ago. It's not pretty.

Oh, no, Wesker got that bullet out and I'm healing up! Besides, I'd go see you even if I was in a full body cast.

I would. I would. Maybe that would have kicked my abilities into gear then and I could have helped you.

[with a small, almost hysterical laugh] How would you manage that? have a hospital cot taken to me? I'd want you to rest and I would go to you.

Lexi, I really don't think you would have wanted to see the end result of that stuff. There was...death. Lots of death.

Yeah, but that way I don't sound cool in the slightest!

I know, I know it's completely stupid of me to be mad at myself, but I still am. But, I wouldn't want to make you worry about me while taking care of yourself.

Nah, you do. You're cool without trying.

[Luz's eyes soften].

I'd always worry about you though. If I even thought you were taken to the factory, I would have probably burned the place down looking for you.

Ha! I'd love to see the faces of the people I knew back home hear you say that!

[as do Lexi's]

And I would have mentally torn it apart. I can do that now. Kind of. [and she gestures to a floating throw-pillow]

What, are you questioning my judgement? [her voice thoroughly full of mischief]

Granted, that probably wouldn't happen since those guys know how to use their abilities really well.

[Not that Luz would have let logic enter into the idea that someone would dare try to hurt Lexi]!

Me? I would never! Them, though? Maybe.

Obviously, you've never seen me really panicked before. I'd telekinesis those sons of bitches all the way back to the stone age.

[and telling herself that makes her feel braver than she thinks she actually would have been under the circumstances]

And I still need to meet them! I, uh. I really want them to approve of me?

[Luz laughed, shaking her head].

I have no doubt you'd do that. But if I even had to think of you fighting those guys, I'd be there in a second.

[Luz wouldn't even hesitate to use lethal force if they intended to cut up Lexi like they had to Sharon or Vi].

Those guys back home? No, Lexi. Not them. Mami, yes! Eda and Willow and Gus, YES!

[Lexi grins]

That would make us a total battle couple. Honestly, that's always been kind of a hashtag goals of mine.

[she's trying to put the brightest possible spin onto things, fearing that if she doesn't, Luz might dwell too much on what did happen]

I definitely want them to approve of me. I, y'know, it'll be a little intimidating.

[Luz blushed a little here].

That's one strange goal, but I think I like the idea of us looking after each other.

[That was a good call. Luz really didn't need to think about how bad things had gotten in there].

For now, just worry about the people here. This is the world we're dealing with now, and as far as I'm concerned? You're my star in it.

[and Lexi grins]

Is it strange? I don't know. I played a lot of video games where you can end up in that sort of couple. But us looking after each other...that's a given.

[Lexi was far more observant and careful than her friends back home had ever given her credit for. here, she didn't have to be as careful. but she was as observant]

I will. Especially you. [and she melts at the description] Well, to borrow a phrase from 'Game of Thrones,' you're my sun and stars.

So have I! Honestly, that's pretty fun! Kinda scary in real life though, especially when you're looking after someone. You don't want anything to happen to them.

[Luz felt the exact opposite: she wanted to make up for all of the mistakes she made in being impulsive back home. Granted, she didn't always follow that].

And you're my home, Lexi. I'll make sure I can protect you when you need me.

Okay, when you put it that way I can see the drawbacks. Like you'd be so concerned with how you're other half is doing, you'd lose track of how you're doing.

[and that usually ended in a fatality. which she'd like for both of them to avoid as long as possible]

Ohhh. [Lexi visibly melts] I can't respond to that with anything other than a kiss. So you'd better get over here.

Which is why the both of you have to be super awesome! Also, just very well coordinated.

[Luz would definitely not mind training with Lexi when something bad starts to go down in Trench].

I mean, if you say so.

[Luz skips over to Lexi, because who could say no to kisses]?

Weeelll, I think we can get to that point. Between your magic and my apparently now activated Darkblood abilities.

[which Lexi was ridiculously proud of. she felt like a character out of a comic book hero.

And she's waiting at the door, many things floating around except for Mewnos and Nosferatmew whose leashes Lexi had a death-grip on]

You have to absolutely show me the stuff you can do! I can't wait to see it!

[That was so exciting! She couldn't wait to see what Lexi could do]!

[Luz, of course, rushed out the door with the staff. Within twenty minutes, Luz, in an overly puffed up coat with (surprise surprise) a reindeer hat and rabbit mittens. Clearly someone was trying to play up the cute of the holiday]!
