welp
looks like we found the new october
[Immediate kill bill sirens at the lack of sunrise tbh.]
if you're not stocked up on supplies do it sooner rather than later
before the other shoe drops and it gets too dangerous to go outside
last time the sun didn't come up it it came with everyone's running water all turning to blood and nobody could sleep while monsters were prowling around anywhere you could get food and attacking your place if you ran out of incense
just because it's quiet now doesn't mean it's gonna stay that way
be careful
[About ten minutes later, the post gets edited with an addendum:]
also i guess if you can't fight and end up needing shit, lemme know
[Look he can't just offer help publicly and not act at least a little grouchy about it. Who do you take him for, Ruby?]

So this is Trench's version of a natural disaster, huh...yikes. Thanks for the warning. I'm gonna make sure my housemate is already on gathering shit and preparing to hunker down.
Guess the priorities are long-lasting food to cover the month and incense. Maybe clean water in bottles, too, unless that also turns...can never tell with this place.
no subject
dunno if it's the same here
but better to prepare for the worst-case scenario than just hope for the best and do nothing
food, water, and incense are good priorities to start with
might wanna see about medical supplies too, just in case

Need any help defending the house? If it's as bad as all that, anyway. The place I'm staying at isn't exactly super secure, not much point bothering to defend it.

Can't go wrong with more fighters around when shit hits the fan.

We'll need food and water for the whole city, or we'll face riots. I suppose we could build cisterns quite quickly with some of the magic I've seen here, and I'm told the mushrooms will grow without sunlight. I have a little courtyard I could use to grow them, if I had seeds. [she has no idea how mushrooms work.] And we could set archers around such places to defend from flying monsters if need be.
But I would imagine the city has its own defenses if this is a common or seasonal danger. We would do well to see what they are and how we can assist them before we bolt ourselves in our homes.

(it's a long story)
we thought we might be safe from it here when we got through october without any of that crap but the sun hasn't come up for three days and there's no way that isn't a bad sign
anyway
far as i know, trench doesn't exactly have a government
people around here just do their own thing
(and if you're at all thinking like that means you should suggest we do something about that, don't
trust me, people have tried, it's a shitshow)
ruby rose (@ clickclickbloom) and @ mako have been working on setting up a series of safehouses, though
if you wanna help out with supplies and shelter, coordinating with 'em is probably your best bet

that's kind of a long story
the short version is that this world used to be different, before this kid sodder was born of a pthumerian and a human, with incredible powers that the people of her town were afraid of
her grandmother, a pthumerian called mother superior, thought she could contain her power by having her put in a coma
which backfired and made a huge mess where the kid and all the people in the town were trapped inside her nightmare
along with a bunch of us from different worlds
and sodder split up the nightmare world into a number of layers to protect herself
if i remember right, the "october" layer with all the blood and no sun was the one mother superior was stuck on
she wanted to kill all us sleepers off to keep sodder asleep
because we made her more powerful or something?
you could probably get more details from people who were in deerington longer
there's a guy named shiro who's been around for years, i think

I already heard about the incense and planned to store up food that keeps, but what did you all even do about water last time? How long did you have to stay inside?
text; un: Pierrot
Anything else you think we need? I found a bunch of shiny rocks and I know people like those so we may be in luck and this may be a rare chance to capitalize before things go sideways.

but if we ran out there were places we could get more
we'd just have to fight monsters on the way
the whole mess lasted about a month
in trench those canteens from the welcome bag are enchanted to clean any water put in them i think
but it's probably safer to have extra stocked up just in case

[ Ange still is feeling pretty miserable, honestly. But on the other hand, she knows that she can't afford to just linger in that this month, if the early signs are any indication.
She has to toughen up and push her pain down, try to do her part. Even if she hasn't even been outside for weeks now. ]
no subject
well we can't go wrong with more incense
there hasn't really been monster attacks as long or severe as back in deerington up to now so it's hard to say how much we'll need if we have to keep some lit constantly
also never hurts to have clean water stocked up just in case

Is this something only people from Deerington would know?
no subject
Yeah, like I was saying, the things I listed used to happen every October in Deerington. The first batch of us in Trench came out of the sea in September, and we spent all of October holding our breath waiting for the other shoe to drop.
...And now we have our third straight day the sun didn't come up, and there's no way that isn't a bad sign for things to come.

By 'new October,' I assume you mean the Octobers in that nightmare town? I wonder what makes April so specially awful.
[The weather? Or, more likely, could it be the Patron?]
no subject
and i dunno
the octobers in deerington sucked cause of mother superior
so best guess is it's argonaut's doing
unless this is all just a really shitty coincidence and nothing actually happens
but i'm not about to just take my chances on that

Got as much supplies ready to go, though the natives don't look worried.
Fuck if I know if that's a good thing with them, but the Hunters aren't freaking out.
Either way, if this is Inferiority Complex's idea of a joke I'm not laughing.
The creepy lights floating around're making me nervous though.

i've never wanted to be wrong about something so bad in my life
i dunno though, doesn't seem like her new style
gotta sell the whole "mother mercy" theme out here, right? deerington october wouldn't exactly jive with the image

I still have my endless bottle of water, but it'd be a good idea to find other sources too. It's from Julia's magic, and I don't want to run the risk of it breaking here.
[It was one of the few remnants of Julia's existence that they had... and it was special.]
no subject
i never exactly went looking
[He was having A Time about Clover and Atlas pretty much in general while the dream was crumbling; trying to find that home they had shared was entirely too painful for multiple reasons.]
the canteens from the welcome bags should do us in a pinch
there's magic in them too if i remember right
but i wouldn't want to rely on magic to make sure we're okay
keeping a stock would be the best move while things are still quiet

ISN'T THE MOON A GOOD THING HERE? I THOUGHT THAT WAS CLARIFIED BY THE FACT THAT THE MOON IS A GOOD THING HERE.
lmk if this is incorrect understanding of deer lore lol
cynthia was connected to the moon in deerington too but no sunrise was a bad sign then
if it turns out to be the opposite and we have a month where we all feel stronger and healthier than usual go ahead and say i told you so then
in the meantime, i'll keep preparing
