(A big sweeping eyeroll. It's amazing how quick her voice went from Baby-Uwu to Frigid-Bitch. It's not a talent everyone could master, admittedly.)

Anyway. Is everyone around here a prude or something? I haven't seen any cleavage outside of my own in like a whole day. Holy shit. (...DRAMATIC REALIZATION...) Did I get kidnapped by the Amish...

I literally saw a freak in a full-length dress, gloves, mask, and a hat. Maybe they're just allergic to air.

I don't know if Amish can be technically considered human either. (For reals. What kind of person willingly avoids Fall Out Boy? She gives a polite smile all the same. She hasn't been human for a few months now.)

I squidded too. I was huge. I think I might of ate a whale at some point.

(The smile becomes a little more genuine though because wow yummy. Guys in her hometown never dressed like that. Her stomach gives an audible growl.)

[ Well this is... a concerning thing to find so quickly after Flynn even discovered this whole network in the first place. It must be a joke, right? A way to break the tension of washing up in a strange place?

He is going to take it as that, because the alternative is hard to contemplate (see: a world where it's a perfectly normal thing to demand blood sacrifices in what is, as far as Flynn can tell, a public place??).

Having opted for the benefit of the doubt, he offers Jennifer a tentative smile. Just visible behind him is a strange-looking horse with a face like a dog's, out of focus and half out of frame. ]

While I'm afraid I can't offer any sort of sacrifice, it is a pleasure to meet you. If there's anything else you need help with, perhaps a bit more attainable, I'd be glad to offer my assistance.

Ah—my name is Flynn.

Damn. That's impressive. I just got hit around on some rocks.

[ He laughs, low and easy. It is impressive. He doesn't remember much of being a squid, just getting tossed around in a storm before getting captured by monsters, but hey. It still happened ]

What kind of sacrifice are we talking here? A little blood? A covenant? Or like full of ritual killing? 'Cause I'm really not looking to die today.

What can I say? I'm a natural predator. (HAIR FLIP. In truth, she didn't remember all the much either, but she had washed up on shore covered in blood.)

Just your typical bodily sacrifice. (That answered absolutely nothing, Jennifer.)

That's too bad. Boy screams are the best screams. (But she gives a sigh, and it's not until that moment that it becomes clear she had some sort of edge to her voice. When she speaks next, she sounds like an ordinary teenage girl again:)

I'll survive. I couldn't eat a guy with hair almost as nice as my own. It'd practically be sacrilegious.

Yeah, I'll pass this time.

[ Alright he's a little concerned, but it doesn't seem like she's going to come to try and kill right now. And, well. He can probably take her. Right?

Maybe. It really doesn't seem like it's a joke. He could jibe back about the screams, but he doesn't really want to poke the lion. He shouldn't make enemies on his first day out. Maybe. ]

I wish everyone thought that way. Probably would've gotten me out of a few scrapes if monsters were into my hair.

[ A beat. Damn it, he can't leave it well enough alone ]

So what's the sacrifice for?

(It's what all the cool kids were doing. Or at the very least, Jennifer had seen people selling jewelry allegedly made out of blood in the market area. She didn't really buy that the pearly looking jewel she bought was made out of actual blood.

Either way? People seemed weirdly comfortable around the subject.

She smiles sweetly back at Flynn. The boys in this place were so cute. Any of them would make a good meal.)

It's okay, honey. I think I'll manage in the meantime. (There were way more people to pick from in a city than there was from some redneck hellhole.)

It's a pleasure to meet you too, Flynn. (Her eyes are darting about because yeah, Flynn, you could offer some help all right.)

You look like you could pick up some heavy things and put them down somewhere else.

[Look. It's the only appropriate response to sex jokes. He's just going to gloss over the whole "human sacrifice" part and assume it's a bit, because like...it has to be, right? Right. Totally.]

And uh, I think they might be actually? I got told off earlier for having ripped jeans. Like, seriously? A little knee skin was apparently too much for them to handle!

[This is, of course, ignoring the fact that the locals explicitly told him it can be dangerous, but he's going to whine about it anyway.]

(Jennifer contemplates how much to say. She didn't really care who knew about her situation. She also didn't have the language to describe it either. Needy had her theories, but Jennifer didn't really care one way or another. She only really ever cared about what the situation did for her.

Which was make her super hot and deadly. What teenage girl could dream for more?)

You haven't been meeting the right monsters then. (Namely her. She was a monster. Totally vibing with the hair.)

Wellllll. (She sighs.) It's this whole thing. When I don't eat, I get totally crampy and my skin breaks out and my hair looks like I've never heard of conditioner before. I feel like that one time I got mono back after flag camp - which, by the way, totally wasn't my fault. But anyway, it's like, super lame, and I haven't eaten in a while and look-!

(She learns forward and very unattractively juts her chin up while pushing her finger at a very small pimple that had popped up.)

[ The smile, at least, is disarming, and Flynn just—he wants so badly to believe that she's making some kind of strange, dark-humored joke. The kind of thing Raven would do. Maybe?

I found this shitty house and am trying to move around some of the furniature. (Which, admittedly, she would have no trouble doing herself but why do things when you could get other people to do them for you?)

[A throaty, closed-mouthed chuckle, from a rather masculine-sounding set of lungs, then a baritone voice with a hint of a Received Pronunciation British accent speaks.]

[There's something playfully sinister yet polite in his tone, a little bit dangerous, but mostly Vincent Price-esque.]

[In a more serious tone, he continues.]

I'm a somewhat conservative though hardly conventional dresser myself, so I seem to be fitting in so far. It appears the amount of blood that's seeped into the local biome has a lot to do with the typical modes of local garb. Covering up seems to help hold blood Corruption at bay. By all accounts, Corruption doesn't sound like anything one should flirt with.

(She's practically the embodiment of every Mean Girl Queen Bee movie character ever. It's probably for Ryan's actual safety for this to be a pass.

Though that might change later. She seems quietly pleased at making him laugh.)

(There's a sliver of genuine teenage-girlness there, a less fake voice, a less dramatized attitude, and instead just someone who was actually annoyed with the situation. The sincerity doesn't last. She blows some hair out of her face and resumes with a grin:)

Are you into home-modifying clothes at all? The punk-rock look is totally cool. We could rip up those lame-ass robes they gave us.

(Oh, that voice though. British and deep? She felt sufficiently buttered up. It keeps her tone in the decidedly cutsie realm because guys like this were Foreign and Exotic and therefore Fascinating.)

Her smile broadens even wider. She adjusts in her seat and while she doesn't actually get naked, she moves fluidly, with intention.)

We can arrange something sometime. (Usagi is absolutely right.) There's a whole ocean we can swim in sometime under the moonlight or whatever.

(Okay, despite her seductive tone, she has to admit that sounded fun. When was the last time she had a good time with someone else?)

That's a cute name. (Jennifer used to be obsessed with Sailor Moon growing up like any reasonable queer girl is, but her mind was washed a bit on her favorite media and the details.)

Oh my gosh! That sounds so much fun! I love swimming and the ocean! [After all, the moon and tides went hand-in-hand and Usagi was no exception to feeling the pull of the ocean on her nature.

I've never really seen the ocean. I grew up in this place called Devil's Kettle, Minnesota, which is nowhere even close. The most thrilling water scenes we had going on was some stupid waterfall and a lake.

(She has an unusual bite to her voice when she explains the waterfall, but whatever that bite is leaves quickly enough.)

I don't really do the whole research thing. Books never got anyone laid. (Yeah, Jen, that's the only kind of research people do.) You're so sweet.
