Eddie looks different than the last time most people had seen him. For starters, he has a green undertone to his skin. For another, his tongue is completely black. Behind him is an empty room with gray floorboards and peeling green walls. It at least looks clean. There's a Gucci suitcase on its side, opened up, with clothes spilling over and across the floor. Another Gucci suitcase sits next to it, but it has been partially charred.

A dog is passed out and snoring rather loudly in the opened suitcase.

Despite his on-point meme drop, Eddie's delivery is completely and suspiciously blank. His gray eyes are flat, and his expression remains completely empty.)

Richie's here too. (As if on-demand, a massive fireball blast out from the doorway of a nearby room followed by some crashing and yelling. Eddie doesn't even bother to glance over his shoulder.)

We're settling in okay. We're in Lumenwood. I've got some of my supplies from Deerington but I've got a shitton of stuff I need to restock.

(Which was going to be such a drag.)

But for those on a need-to-know basis, I've already made some important notes on this place. Not that any of you give a shit, but if you do...I guess we were given journals for a reason. I suck at journaling though. Here's a uh --- transcipt? Is that what it's called? Whatever, I typed it up.

i actually tried to expose my blood to some bacteria and germs that would usually cause an infection and it was really weird? what look like my new white cells just immediately seemed to swallow up the bacteria and it was like it never existed at all

thats not to say you should run around and stab yourself with a rusty fork anytime soon

but it'd be cool if i could get more samples to see if this is just a Me thing or an Us thing

That said, I will get a vial of pale blood for you sealed. You can run tests on it. You're going to find some of the blood is hard to identify or contain. It seems to be more glittering dust than traditional blood.

like literally. i tried to mix my blood with someone else's and it just eroded through the cells

From what I've gathered, it's exactly what it sounds like. Pollution that comes from blood. When you think about it, blood actually does fit most pollutants. All a pollutant is is some sort of energy brought into an environment that negatively impacts it, right? So just about anything could technically cause pollution - but the actual effects vary.

(Now he's on a genuine ramble of his. He's staring off as he talks, but not out of disconnect with Yuri or the subject, but because he's thinking. Hard.)

And I don't know what exactly about our blood is causing pollution. If it's the literal physical blood itself, or some sort of energy our blood's giving off. Seems like it fucks up the earth and everything living on it. And I guess the first signs of that pollution is something called corruption which basically fucks up your mind. I guess it could be magic, but it could also be purely chemical too. Like, our blood literally could be toxic to us and we're basically just breathing in those fumes whenever it's spilled and it drives us fucking batshit crazy. And maybe those fumes make it tough for other stuff to thrive.

I dunno. It's hard to say. I only got a few vials of blood to test with and they're already gone. I want to get enough blood to do like. Testing for shit like blood pollution. See what happens when I expose some blood to plant cells or soil. So I guess I can't say I know anything yet, but I have some ideas I wanna test.

Probably. If you've got something really specific in mind, that'd help, but in general, I studied blood constantly back in Deerington. Like I'm talking on a near-daily basis. I'm pretty familiar with finding abnormalities in it by now.

(And, truthfully, he had no problem spending even more time on someone who was concerned about their blood. Eddie had mostly done it back in Deerington out of his own growing sense of paranoia with reality. At least with Maul he could be doing it to help the guy.)
