[ The woman that appears is a - level expression, a little happy or sad that plays on her features. Level, most especially, as she clears her throat. Her veil tied around her head to tame her curls back, her shift and vest tying herself up neatly.
Peeking out from her veil is her lamp friend, and drifting around her in a circle is a soft finned creature, her Omen. Delicately colored in reds and blues as it swims in the air. ]
I find myself remiss, in how to make an introduction...
... I am Second-Child, Gilia St. Loe, Daughter-Sea, She Who Sings the Ocean to Prosperity, Who Echoes With the Ceaseless Voice.
[ That out of the way. ]
I am new to this place, this... city. I do not have much in the way of the coin, but I am skilled in other forms. I can sew, weave, till a field, clean, cast a line, or a net, gut a fish, help tend animals, both with birthing and killing, cook many types of meals...
But if you have need of anything repaired or cooked... please, if there is something I can do for resources in return, only let me know, and I shall be your glad servant.

What kind of things do you need?
no subject
I am after a nanny goat, two chickens, and linens for sewing.

[She's not sure if she can reality warp animals into existence the way she can make other things manifest, and she's not entirely sure if she wants to try.]
Do you have any particular colours that you'd prefer for the linens?

People mostly trade jobs. I do some construction and weapon-making. Forage, make some simple potions...

Construction? Can you fix windows?

Sure, depending on what's broken and how bad it is.

Hello, it's nice to meet you. Gilia is a very beautiful name.
( Her smile warms, and she glances upwards to her own Omen who's perched on the sofa behind where she sits: a pure-white dove. She gives a soft coo, and seems to be watching the video just as intently as her companion, studying both the new young woman and her Omen, an entity that seems as though it belongs to the sea. )
I'm Rose. And all of those skills would be very helpful around here; I'm sure there are many people and businesses who would appreciate what you can offer.
( But she's not as concerned with personally utilising those skills as she is making sure this newcomer is managing all right, so far. Despite the fact the girl can clearly take care of herself, Rose is forever a Mother, and she's going to Mom... )
Are you settling in here all right? Have you found a place to stay, and have enough to eat?
no subject
[ It has been some time, since she lost her mother, enough to miss that warmth, little as her mother and her had ever understood each other.
Much as she had tried to pass it on to her own children. ]
I have found a place to stay, and I can procure simple food easily enough. The rest is simple comforts I suspect, and things to help sustain against longer periods here.
no subject
( The various districts can be tricky to find one's way around, and the overall tone of locals can vary. There's also... the threat of beasts and other such monsters to contend with. Rose doesn't want to overwhelm the young woman with such frightful things, but she needs to warn her, expression sobering quietly. )
It can be very dangerous here. I don't know if you have any weapons already, but I can help you get some of those too, if you need.

[ The name is so dreadfully sweet. How lovely. ]
If there is something I may do, in exchange for some flour, I would be most oblidged.

[It was strange hearing mistress added, but it seemed like something a lot of people used here.]
Think of it like a welcome gift to help you get settled in. Usually people just bring something they baked or made.

It's been a long time since I've had to do any of those things.
[ her manicure would never allow her to gut a fish these days. ]
How did you get your name? Do you actually sing to the ocean?
no subject
But it had to be put aside, with all girlhood things. At least, she supposed her mother and fathers would be glad, that she could fend for herself in these circumstances. ]
I do, yes. Gilia is the name my family has given me, but She Who Sings The Ocean to Prosperity is the name given to me when I was 15 and performed rights as Singer for my family. I sang to praise the Sea-Father himself, for four hours, to begin sacred rights of the first Spring Feast Day. The Old First Child, He of Thunderous Steps, said that all the world was glad to hear my voice, and said that I had caused even the waves to be moved with beauty of my singing.
It was, as you can imagine, a great honour.

Four hours? [ her brows lift up; she's impressed. she smiles. ] That's a long time to be singing. I'm surprised you even had a voice after.

[Also a really long one.]
Why are you called Daughter-Sea? Do you turn into a fish person when you get wet?
[Sure, that probably wasn't why she was called that, but it didn't hurt to check.]
no subject
[ Guess what - ]
Not when I get wet.
But I do, yes.

You got a lot of handy skills, you can probably find work just about anywhere in Trench. I'm sure you've been told by now that money ain't really a thing here.
no subject
Yes, much to my relief. I am used to it in foreign trade, but usually, most people in my own home do not have much use for it. You cannot eat coin, after all.

Firstly, welcome to Trench. I can see a lot of people have offered to help you settle in. Why don't I offer you a job.
My partner and I run Trenchwood Farm. It's mostly poultry but we're expending into vegetable crops this season and can use the extra hands. Pay is a cut of all that produce, eggs, and clean meat.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Raleigh.

I would be most glad to accept your offer.
Have you ever tilled a field before? Have you blessed the fields yet?
With great gladness,
Daughter-Sea.

It's good to meet you, Lady Gilia. Would it be all right if I asked you which sea you sing to, and where you were before?
no subject
I sing to the soul of all seas, as I am a child of it. I hail from the Isle of St. Loe, who is in the patronage of the Great Spirit, the Sea-Father.

Looks like you've already been caught up on the general workings of the city here. With that kind of skillset, you shouldn't have any trouble getting by.
[ Since there's always a demand for practical skills and manual labour. ]
Outside of livestock, what sort of resources or services might you need? I've noticed many of the houses here are in disrepair. How's yours holding up? I have some skill with carpentry and renovation should you require assistance in that area.

[ She presses her lips together and lowers her eyes with a polite nod. Reserved and stately, but old manners died hard. ]
I do need some repairs done. The doors do not hang quite right and... my bed is not as sturdy as I would prefer. The larder shelves are not all there either.
