[The feed at first is just a mass of red, curly, curly hair. Then Kyle sits back from where he's propped up his Omni on his desk so his upper body and head are visible. He looks vaguely annoyed, which anybody who knows him will recognise isn't terribly unusual.]
So this is a problem that isn't REALLY a problem, but fuck it, I'm gonna ask about it anyway...
You guys have noticed the clothes here, right? Like, everything looks like you're gonna go hunt Dracula or some shit, or like you're going to that fancy-ass party celebrities go to on earth, the, uh, Met gala? Yeah, that.
Now I'm not a fashion guy. [This is evident to literally anyone who can see the feed - this is clearly a man who bought the first clothes he found that fit. Well, mostly fit. He's looking a bit like he mugged an extra in a bad stage production of Oliver Twist.]
But if I DID want something that didn't look like ass, I don't even know what that would look like, you know? Like if you wanted to make an impression, or something. So I guess just like... what the hell are you guys wearing?

(Jennifer, be nice. She tips her head fully to the side and purses her lips at him, contemplating. He's not completely hopeless. Maybe.)
Gingers usually look best in green. What kind of impression do you want to make exactly?
(Jennifer grins wickedly, leaning back.)
I've totally delved into the whole Dracula's wife aesthetic. It's a bitching look.
video : private
I like green.
[He rolls his eyes.] Why am I so not surprised? But, okay, why that? And how do you not look like you're wearing a costume every day?
no subject
(Boys just suffered from Constant Douchedom.)
Weeeeeeell. It's not every day. I mix it up. Sometimes I like to look like a hot gunslinger chick or just slum it in jeans. (She shrugs.) I just do it because I think it looks cool. Clothes can make you feel totally badass. I love swinging open the door to a place wearing one of those flowing dresses and storming up to the bar in a pair of killer heels. With the right attitude, no one's going to think anything looks ridiculous on you. It's all about owning it.

RICH PEOPLE ARE SO FUCKING FLAMBOYANT, MAN. THE ROYALS BACK ON ALTERNIA WOULD STRUT AROUND IN THESE STUPID FUCKING CAPES AND ALL THIS JEWELRY AND I WAS ALWAYS LIKE "THIS IS EXACTLY WHY NO ONE LIKES YOU." FUCKING TOOLS.
THANK YOU C:B I HAVE BEEN PRETTY SUCCESSFUL IN MY HUNTING LATELY. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO THE WOODS THEY ARE CRAWLING WITH BEASTS. UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A FIGHT IN WHICH CASE TOTALLY GO. BUT WITH ME. JUST IN CASE.
NOT THAT I AM DOUBTING YOUR FIGHTING CAPABILITIES.
IT'S JUST USUALLY SMARTER TO FIGHT MONSTERS IN TEAMS. BASIC SURVIVAL.
THANK YOU. YOU WOULD PROBABLY LOOK OMINOUS AS FUCK. LIKE A THREAT. IT WOULD BE EQUALLY COOL LOOKING.

We've noticed! It's pretty steam punk, which if you don't know is basically Victorian aesthetic with a bit of a twist. That twist is actually what makes it really fun! The best part is that it doesn't necessary ONLY restrict itself to that too, so you pretty much have room to play around with what best suits you!
Me for instance. I'm a girl, but I find that my clothing style can flicker from feminine to non binary, you know? I I'm going out on the regular, I'll go simple, something like this with black shorts and leggings and some comfortable shoes. If I'm going out, I might try for something a little more outlandish, something to add a little flair!
It's kind of up to you if you want to go simple or outlandish.
no subject
Okay, yeah, I have noticed that like... there's a lot of stuff that seems WAY less gendered here. Do you find that really freeing, since it's a more comfortable place to experiment with non binary looks?
Oh, so you're like, fashionable for real.
no subject
[If you're a cosplayer, which Luz dabbled in].
Oh heck yeah, definitely! I could always experiment in my house, but I was already kind of an outsider, so I sorta pushed the button without going whole hog? This gives me plenty of reason to mix and match what I feel like without silly binaries!
Aesthetics! I'm more of an artist than a fashionista, but I know what I like!

[He could just wear them normally and start wearing shoes, but his style.]
Uh, I got some suspenders and junk too, I think Varian's more happy about that than I am. I did get a sweet hat when Usagi and I traded a sword to a Hunter, though? Hold on, I'll get a pic.
[He'll take a photo with his Omni and send it a couple minutes later.]
And there's loads of monsters around, so if you want a hat I can totally skin you something.
audio;
Dude. The fuck even IS that hat made of, it looks metal as hell.
You'd do that for me?
no subject
[It never even occurred to him.]
I think just regular hat stuff? But you're right, it's super sick.
Sure dude! It's no problem, I used to make 'em all the time back home.

But tell me. I might be able to help. What sort of impression do you wish to make?

Uhm. I just don't want to look like shit? Like, you've seen me. Better than that.

[That's because not everyone is from the early 1800s like you are, Varian. ]
Anyway, if you want any pointers in adapting to this kind of wardrobe, I could take pity on you. I even know all the actual real words for things.
no subject
I do. Please, yes, dude, I will bring more food over I think I have mastered some desserts.

[Kyle you keep feeding them and they'll never leave- like stray cats.]
You want me to meet you somewhere so we can go do some shopping?

I'd embraced the gothic look a long time ago, though I never thought of myself as most people's idea of a Goth. Mind you, I can remember when the Goth subculture started branched off from post-punk in the early 80s. I saw myself as a serious, pragmatic young man who liked dark art and dark clothing. I've been called a corporate goth, but now the Victorian gothic look seems what I'm called to take on. When in Trench, do as the Trenchies do, right?
But I've been rattling on without introducing myself. I'm Doctor Adrian Winters, Blood Minister and... occasional occult scholar.
...You're the young scholar whom Locrian befriended, aren't you? He's waxed rhapsodic about you.
no subject
Uhm. Right. Sure, dude. I guess I'm just having a hard time doing as they do without looking like an asshole. So I guess this wasn't a huge leap for you, then.
Oh! Yeah, yeah your name came up. I'm Kyle Broflovski, yeah.
no subject
In some ways, it wasn't, in other ways, it was. I'm scrupulously avoiding the kind of cravats and other less practical details. Last thing that I need: an aggressive patient or a Corrupted personage grabbing it and throttling me.
[A glance up and down the screen of the device.]
Hmm. You're probably not at ease with the wealthy scholar look, and no one wants to look forever like a raggamuffin in a Charles Dickens movie. It's a matter of taste, but in a place like this and with the weather getting colder, I suggest whatever you can find that offers you some protection: thick wool, leather, sturdy broadcloth. There's a clothing shop in Willful Machine, where I found most of what I've been wearing: The Industrious Ants. The proprietor is a very diligent woman who'd be willing to set you up with something to suit you as well as any tailoring.
A pleasure to meet you, Master Kyle, then?
[The video might glitch with static, but not enough to mess with sound. But there is an EVP-like voice dimly audible as Winters continues hollowing the turnip: "...bring back a single dead person. While I aimed to change the world."]

An impression, hmm. [ It's said thoughtfully. He thinks he might know what's meant by that based on the flirting going on elsewhere in the post, and wonders if it's too soon to tease about it. Wanting to look nice for someone, that he can understand. ]
As in, you want to dress nicer but without feeling like you're wearing an ostentatious costume? I've found that forgoing a few layers can help there. [ A prime example of what he means is what he's currently wearing, himself. ]
no subject
[Any flirting would be vehemently denied.]
And I'm honestly really curious what people are doing considering that whether or not you go fancy seems to be a real thing here. Like people judge one another on it. So I was like, maybe Sleepers are taking sides, you know?
You look nice.
no subject
"Not nude" is an easy standard to maintain. [ He's trying to suppress a smile now. ] So it was just general curiosity. Not because you're wanting to make an impression on someone in particular?
[ Yep. We're going there. ]

It all just looks like normal human clothes to me. I pretty much just wore my outfit from back home all last month, but this month I've either been wearing the costume I bought or this.
[He gestures at his current outfit.]
The shirt's from back home, but it was getting too cold for shorts.
